Gail’s Gossip
Hi All,
The shows are all finally over for the year. It was great to see many
familiar faces at both the Melbourne Show and the Adelaide Show.
However, I am looking forward to spending more time in the shop, at
home and with family.
Last week, I had a day off sewing with Rebecca. We completed 6 quilt
tops and started a few other projects. Some of the finished tops can be
seen in the ‘New Arrivals’ section. Thank you to Russell who looked
after her 4 children and managed all the kinder drop off and pick ups for
the day. We had such a good day, we have booked Russell in for
another day as we have too many ideas to create.
Rebecca and I also attended the Wholesale Trade Show recently. We have ordered
lots of new fabric ranges, patterns, notions etc. Too many to list so we will let you
know as they become available in store.
January is always a popular for sewing and craft. As such we have decided to hold a
SALE to kick start your year with lots of bargains. The sale starts on Wednesday 7th
January and runs through til Saturday 17th January. If you are planning on being
away for some of this period, do not panic. There will be lots of new specials and
sale items added daily. See the info further down.
Lately, we have organized many new classes for 2015. These have already been
added to the class list, so be sure to check soon to avoid disappointment as some are booking already! As
always there will be other additions each month so if you are looking for a particular class, let us know
and we will try to schedule it.

Towards the end of January, we have several classes scheduled before school goes back – even a mother
and daughter stitching day. I will have to book into this class myself with one of my grand daughters as it
is sure to be a lot of fun.
This weekend the house is being transformed into a magical Christmas kingdom. The table is being
extended to fit all the family…and the music train that delivers lollies around the table! There are
musical toys galore for the kids to press the buttons, garlands being hung
around the family room cornice, the Christmas tree is being decorated
and the hat box is becoming full of Christmas hats of all sorts for every
visitor who wants a meal.
Finally, I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas. Enjoy the time with family and friends and I will see
you at the shows or in the shop next time.

If you are thinking about organizing a bus tour, why
not stop at the shop. There is plenty of room for
everyone to wander around the shop at the same
time. So your guests do not have to wait their turn
to see what is inside. And there is plenty
inside…Also, there is lots of space in our new
classroom for morning tea subject to availability,
we can put the urn on, and a toilet is available. If

Each full kit comes with all 9 pre-printed patterns, the construction
pattern, fabric for the sashing, prairie points and borders, 2 standard
stranded cottons, and 4 variegated stranded cottons. We have the full

Christmas Morning Tea with Rosalie

Have a morning of fun during the school holidays.
Join in and get some help introducing your child
to basic stitches. Rosalie has designed a unique
iron on stitchery for each child. Class fee includes
the stitchery, linen and a season thread. Open to
interested children aged 5 and up who must be
accompanied by a supervising adult. It is not a
babysitting service. An additional child is able to
attend for $20

backgrounds, sashing and borders. This class has

Lots of information on needles, batting and
marking techniques is provided in the class. Free
motion quilting foot for your sewing machine is
essential. It may need to be ordered from your

Beginners Patchwork

This is a beginners patchwork class. Learn how to
use your rotary cutter, ruler and mat, and the basic

Finishing Techniques
Cost:

Learn a wide range of different techniques to finish
your quilts. In this class, you will work on placemat
sized projects to learn different methods of basting
including; pins, running stitch and spray basting.
Learn the simplest straight line quilting as well as
different binding techniques such as; straight, bias,
strait corners, mitred corners and curved edges. Ideal
for beginners and a great refresher for patchworkers
with some experience.

Cost:

Learn a variety of Judy Niemeyer tips and techniques for completing bar based quilts. Students may
work on one of the following patterns; Cappucino, Garden Wall, Reflections, Stepping Stones,
Waterfalls, Weeping Willow or Willow Bed Runner. Appliqué (where applicable) is not covered in this

Looking Out –
Multiple ways to Appliqué
Cost: $140 plus fabric

This is a fun workshop designed to teach a
variety of different machine appliqué
methods. The student can decide on their
own aquarium layout. Techniques include;
machine appliqué – turned edge, raw edge,
satin stitch, decorative stitch, padded and
free motion using Printfuse, Polyfuse and
Fusible Web. BYO Lunch.
