FROM THE PASTOR
On this fourth and final Sunday of Advent, today’s
Gospel takes us into the pregnant expectation of Our Lady,
the joyful center and living heart of the Church’s Christmas
preparations: With Mary’s obedient faith, we welcome our
Savior before we see Him directly. All of our last-minute,
pre-holy day activities must be oriented to this one thing necessary---the new
embrace of Jesus Christ through all of our giving and receiving.
The final opportunities at St. Vincent’s to make a good Confession
before Christmas are the following:
Monday, December 22 3:00-5:00PM and 6:30-8:00PM
Tuesday, December 23 3:00-5:00PM and 6:30-8:00PM
These times are particularly set aside for those who have not yet received the
Sacrament of Reconciliation during the Advent season.
As I have mentioned in the past few homilies, it is our happy, holy
obligation to celebrate the full Twelve Days of Christmas---from December 25
through the Feast of the Epiphany. At St. Vincent’s, our New Year’s Eve Trivia
Night is an excellent way to come together to keep up the feasting and
rejoicing. Vigil Masses for the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God Holy Day of
Obligation will be celebrated on December 31 at 4PM, 6:30PM, and 8PM.
The Trivia Night festivities will begin in the Parish Hall following the 8PM
Mass, probably around 9:30PM. You can sign up individually or as a table at
the Information Desk in the gathering space this weekend.
Finally, please also pray in these last days of Advent for the warm
welcome to St. Vincent’s of all of those who have been away from the active
practice of the Catholic faith. Their appearance at our Christmas celebration
is not some rude interruption that threatens to leave us pew-less; it is rather
the great homecoming of our brothers and sisters, who must find in us such
joy that they will be drawn irresistibly to come back and be with us each
Sunday!
There are still plenty of Christmas holy cards and key chains to give to
those who would benefit from a personal invitation to find their spiritual
home with us. There are lots of these cards for the taking at the information
desk, and they’re free!
In St. Vincent’s love of Christ,
CHRISTMAS MASS TIMES

MINISTERS NEEDED
We are still in need of Extraordinary
Ministers, Ushers, and Servers for
Mass on Christmas Eve, Christmas
Day, and Mary Mother of God. Please
check your schedule and sign up for
a position at Saintv.org under the
ministry scheduler link or by calling
the church office. You can see
openings on Page 6 of this Bulletin.
Fr. Daniel Scheidt
P.S. To improve the traffic flow and parking logistics for the 4:00PM
Christmas Vigil Mass this year, Bruce Cadwell, Tom Schuerman, and Joe
Knepper are formulating a plan for directing vehicles into parking spaces to
optimize safety and convenience for everyone, with provision made for those
who need special assistance. We shall also add a shuttle to move people
parking in the farther lots. There will of course be police officers assisting
motorists at the Wallen Road entrance of our Parish grounds.
SAVINGS SEATS AT CHRISTMAS EVE MASS
Because of the large number of people attending the Christmas Eve Masses,
and the need to maintain space for people to move about in case of
emergency, pews may only be saved for family members until 15 minutes
before Mass time. At that time, the ushers will begin to fill pews with those
who are standing in the back of church. For safety, please also take
advantage of the coat racks in the parish library.

Find hope, help and healing for your marriage by
attending the Third Option – a skills-based group
program that helps participants build stronger, more

develop better levels of understanding,
conflict-resolution, and trust while also learning more
effective communication skills. Start any time in the
cycle. Spouses may attend together or alone, and
childcare will be provided. There is no fee to attend
although donations will be accepted. Sessions are held
on select Mondays from 7-9 pm, at Bishop Dwenger High

CHRISTMAS EVE PARKING
ST. VINCENT CHRISTMAS EVE TRAFFIC INFORMATION
7
We are asking parishioners to please help us to improve the vehicle traffic flow into our parking lot areas by following
these important guidelines: (see the map below for further clarification)
- All traffic from north or southbound Auburn Road and all westbound Wallen Road please enter at the Auburn Road
entrance. This will help to reduce the traffic back up at the Wallen Road entrance. Please enter the parking lot just
beyond the Spiritual Center and do not continue west towards church. This road will be blocked off temporarily.
- All eastbound Wallen Road traffic please enter at the main entrance on Wallen road.
- Do not drop off passengers along the entrance routes. This creates a dangerous situation for people walking along
the entrance roads and it also slows traffic flow. The much safer choice would be to proceed to the south church
entrance (near the handicapped parking area) and drop your passengers there.
- Always observe and please follow the direction of the traffic control volunteers. And always use your turn signals to
help them understand your intended direction of travel.
- Above all, be patient and courteous.
Thank you for helping us make this a safer Christmas holiday!
Note: There will be a trolley running prior to and following the 4:00 pm Christmas Eve Mass (3:00 pm-7:00 pm) to
shuttle people from the farther away parking lot area to the church. The trolley will pick up passengers outside of the
Spiritual Center Chapel and drop them off at the church entrance.
Handicap Parking: If you are in need of a handicap parking space please have your handicap parking permit
prominently displayed and use the Wallen Road entrance to help the parking lot volunteers direct you.
Lots will be marked full as they fill up.
