Certificate I and II level Programs are available at a government subsidised rate for students who require training to
address skill gaps prior to enrolment in Certificate 3 and above training; or where industry endorses the individual
enrolment leading to an employment outcome. All students seeking subsidy will need to attend an information
session or personal consultation to have an individual training and support plan developed.
Course details
If you're interested in becoming a pharmacy assistant the Certificate II in Community Pharmacy is the program
you're looking for. When selling pharmacy and pharmacist-only medicines, the pharmacy assistant provides a filter
to identify customer information and requirements for referral to the pharmacist.
You will learn about:
serving and interacting with customers
merchandising products and controlling stock
how to understand the product range and the roles and responsibilities of pharmacy assistants and
pharmacists
communicating with customers to identify needs and provide appropriate product advice and/or referral.
This program includes the legally required qualification to be able to sell Schedule 2 and 3 medications.
Further study: As you complete your Certificate II in Community Pharmacy you also have the exciting opportunity
to undertake an additional 4 retail units that would give you a 'dual qualification' in both Certifiate II Community
Pharmacy and Certificate III Retail Operations. The 4 units are completed within your 20 week course and attract

Entry requirements
You must be at least 16 years of age prior to the course start date to undertake this course.
You must have successfully completed year 10 (or equivalent), or have relevant experience and/or qualifications
that indicate likely success in completing the course.
