GPACAC 2015 Student Scholarship Application
GPACAC awards three $1,000 scholarships to students in Nebraska,
Kansas and Oklahoma, each year. To see if you qualify and to access
the online application, please see the information below.
To qualify, applying students must meet the following requirements:
- be a May/June 2015 high school graduate
- attend high school in Nebraska, Kansas, or Oklahoma
- have an ACT Composite score of 21 - 28 (or SAT equivalent)
- have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or
equivalent)
To apply for the 2015 scholarship:
- Review the Scholarship Guidelines and complete the application form (link below)
- Attach an original essay on the topic provided (500 word maximum)
- Submit and send all requested materials by the February 1, 2015 deadline

Summer Institutes High School Program
The Summer Institutes are intensive residential academic programs that allow students to study a single subject for three or four weeks
with instructors and peers who share their talents, passions, and interests. Courses in areas ranging from Business to Biosci ence,
Particle Physics to Political Science, and Creative Writing to Cosmology are customized to give students deep exp osure and hands on
experience. Two new courses for 2014 are Decision Leadership and Negotiation which will balance analytic rigor through decision
analysis and game theory, with behavioral insights through psychology, negotiation, and leadership; and Computer Simulations and
Interactive Media which will introduce students to the concepts of app development, game design, and artificial intelligence through basic
programming and mathematics.

President's Leadership Council Conclave 2015

The OSU President's Leadership Council's Conclave will be a two-day event held for high school
juniors and seniors February 14th- 15th, on the Oklahoma State University campus and will be
centered on developing leadership characteristics essential to both college and individual
success. While providing workshops, service opportunities, and guest speakers, the Conclave will
be student-organized and is guaranteed to be an exciting weekend of learning and fun.
An application is attached for high school juniors and seniors who choose to apply for the OSU
Leadership Conclave. The conference is limited to 100 attendants and selection will be based on
the quality of the applications. This application can be copied, if you know of other seniors who
might make good Conclave applicants. A registration fee of $100 will be due upon acceptance.
This fee includes overnight accommodations, food, T-shirt and other expenses related to the
conference. Entertainment, including a dance, will be provided for participants by the 2014-2015
President’s Leadership Council.

Oklahoma JCI Senate Club
The Oklahoma Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate
Club joins the United States JCI organization in presenting
scholarships to selected high school seniors. Below you will
find a link to the application forms and information. These
scholarships will be presented in the spring of 2015.
The application should be completed in its entirety and
postmarked on or before January 9, 2015. Each application
will be screened based on appearance, neatness, content,
scholastic abilities, extracurricular activities, financial need,
and correctly following the directions.
The top two (2) applications from Oklahoma will be submitted for national judging.

2015 Summer Scholars Program Date: June 27 – July 11, 2015
Summer Scholars is a two-week program for talented rising high school juniors and seniors
who are interested in experiencing a taste of college life. Summer Scholars introduces
students to college-level academics in fields ranging from the liberal arts to the sciences
and business. Summer Scholars courses are rigorous and small in size, and the campus
experience serves as an excellent introduction to the life of a college student.

2015 Leadership Seminars Program Date: July 18 – July 29, 2015
Leadership Seminars is a 10-day, all expenses paid program for advanced students who
wish to hone their critical thinking and expressive skills in the company of dynamic peers.
Students will engage in lively discussions on issues of global concern under the tutelage of
Notre Dame Faculty. The three seminars offered are American Arts, Popular Culture and
Social Change; Global Issues: Towards a Just Peace; and Science, Ethics and
Responsibility.

2015 Study Abroad - Rome, Italy (New for 2015!) Program Date: June 7 –
June 20, 2015.
This 12-day program will immerse students in the history and culture of the Eternal City,
with a focus on the built environment. Scholars representing a range of fields, from art
history to anthropology, will be on hand to guide students in their exploration of this
fascinating city. The new Notre Dame Center in Rome will serve as the home for lectures
and discussions, while the city itself, with its monuments, museums and historic
neighborhoods will serve as the course’s true classroom.

The U.S. Department of State Announces
Scholarships for American High School
Students to Study Abroad
The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Abroad Program offers merit-based
scholarships to spend an academic year in countries that may include Bosnia & Herzegovina,
Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mali, Morocco, Oman, Philippines, South
Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, and Turkey. This program increases understanding between people
in the United States and people in countries with significant Muslim populations. Students live
with host families, attend local high schools, do community service, and complete a capstone
project. Applications for academic year 2015-16 programs are due January 7, 2015. Visit

The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) offers merit-based scholarships to

Macy's and the American Heart Association are continuing their concerted efforts to increase the number of minority women in
medical schools through the Go Red™ Multicultural Scholarship Fund. For the fourth consecutive year, the partners are offering
sixteen $2,500 tuition-focused scholarships for minority women pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in healthcare fields.
Applicant must: Be a female of Hispanic, African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander or other minority origin. Be a citizen/permanent
resident of the continental United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. Be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or

JANUARY SCHOLARSHIPS
FIRE Free Speech Essay Contest
Deadline: January 1, 2015
Why is free speech important at our nation's colleges and universities? Using examples from both videos, discuss how censorship
of student speech is incompatible with higher education. Students must submit an essay between 800 and 1,000 words on the
provided topic below. One $10,000 first prize, one $5,000 second prize, and three $1,000 runner-up prizes will be awarded for the
best essays. Four $500 winners will be chosen from the remaining entrants in a drawing.
Eligibility: High school juniors and seniors for the 2014-2015 school year who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible

JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest
Deadline: January 5, 2015
Students are asked to write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of political
courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. Students should use at least five varied sources such as
government documents, letters, newspaper articles, books, and/or personal interviews to address the following topic: Describe and
analyze an act of political courage by a United States elected official that took place during or after 1956. Include an analysis of the
obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or
international level. $10,000 prize for 1st place, $1,000 for second place, and up to five finalists each receive $500.
Eligibility: The contest is open to United States high school students in grades nine through twelve attending public, private,
parochial, or home schools; U.S. students under the age of twenty enrolled in a high school correspondence/GED program in any of
the fifty states, the District of Columbia, or the U.S. territories; and U.S. citizens attending schools overseas. Past winners and
finalists are not eligible to participate. Employees of John Hancock Financial Services and members of their families are not eligible
to participate.

APIASF Scholarship Program

The APIASF General Scholarship is open to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) high school and college students who will
be enrolling or are currently enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in the
upcoming academic year. There are multiple scholarship opportunities that vary in award amount, number of years, field of study,
location, and more. Award Amount: $2,500 - $15,000
Eligibility: 1) Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census. 2) Be a citizen, national, or legal
permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the
Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply. 3) Be enrolling as an undergraduate student in a U.S. accredited college or university
in the Fall of 2015. Please read the scholarships by supporter details below for specific eligibility requirements regarding the

United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship

Each year, the U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school
seniors who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. The number
of grants awarded annually is at the discretion of the Foundation and must be used for educational expenses in the first year of fulltime study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and the educational institution of the recipient's choice.

Gates Millennium Scholarship

Funded by a $1.6 billion grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, GMS was established in 1999, as a twenty year

backgrounds (1,000 selected each year; 20,000 in 20 year commitment).

Dr Pepper is making an impact on students' lives. Every student deserves a chance to realize their potential. That's why Dr Pepper
is awarding over $1,000,000 in tuition to help students across the country pursue their dreams. If you're a student between the ages
of 18-24, you can tell us your one of a kind goal to enter for the chance to compete to win up to $100,000 in tuition. You'll be eligible

The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship

Google Anita Borg Scholarship recipients will each receive a $10,000 award for the 2015-2016 academic year. A group of female
undergraduate and graduate students will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the
strength of each candidate's academic background and demonstrated leadership. All scholarship recipients will be invited to attend
the Annual Google Scholars' Retreat in Mountain View, California in 2015. As an Anita Borg Scholar, you will participate in a
unique program that includes professional development as well as outreach in your community which kicks off at the Scholars'
Retreat.

2015 Generation Google Scholarship

The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders
in the field. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada)
for the 2015-2016 school year. As part of the scholarship, current high school seniors who are entering their first year of university
in 2015-2016 will be required to attend Google's Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI) in the summer of 2015. Current
undergraduate or graduate students will be invited to attend the Google Scholars' Retreat in the summer of 2015.

Established in 2007, The Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies (Ford PAS) Scholarship was developed by the Ford Motor

The Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the 46th Annual National Washington. Crossing Foundation Scholarship awards for
students completing twelfth (or final high school year) in 2015 who are planning careers in government service. Scholarships of
$500 to $5,000 for students planning careers in government service, for study at the college of the recipient's choice (other awards
in amounts as the judges may determine).

The Google Lime Scholarship

Recipients of the 2015 Google Lime Scholarship will each receive a scholarship for the 2015-2016 academic year. Selected
students will also be invited to attend the annual Google Scholars' Retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, California, in 2015.
Candidates will also be considered for software engineering internship opportunities with Google. Scholarships will be awarded
based on the strength of candidates' academic background and demonstrated passion for computer science - $10,000 for those

graduate or PhD student currently enrolled at a university in the U.S. or Canada (freshmen/first years and international students

C-SPAN's Student Cam 2015

StudentCam is C-SPAN's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues
that affect our communities and our nation. Students in grades 6-12 are asked to create a short (5-7 minute) video documentary on
a topic related to the competition theme. The 2015 StudentCam Theme: "The Three Branches and You" Tell a story that
demonstrates how a policy, law, or action by either the executive, legislative, or judicial branch has affected you or your community.
*Your topic should pertain to a branch of the Federal Government. With cash prizes totaling$100,000 , C-SPAN awards prizes to
150 student documentaries, and 53 teacher advisors! All eligible documentaries must adhere to the Competition Rules. Winners will
be announced in March 2015.

Ronald McDonald House U.S. Scholarship

Helping students afford the education of their dreams. Students across the country work hard to earn top marks, dreaming of the

As part of our commitment to military veterans, Google established the Google SVA Scholarship in partnership with Student
Veterans of America. The scholarship provides assistance to student veterans who are pursuing university degrees in the field of
computer science in the U.S. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD for the 2015-2016 school year and will be invited to attend
the Google Scholars' Retreat in the summer of 2015.
Applicant must: Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at a university for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Scholarship

The Navy Reserve Officers Training Program (NROTC) is a multi-year program that runs concurrently with a student's normal
college or university educational course of study. In addition to a normal academic workload leading to a Baccalaureate degree,
NROTC students attend classes in Naval Science, participate in the NROTC unit for drill, physical training, and other activities, and
are generally taught the leadership principles and high ideals of a military officer. The Naval ROTC Scholarship is awarded to a
specific school affiliated with an Naval ROTC Unit. You may start the process of applying during the second semester of your junior
year of high school. Students may apply for only one of the three scholarship program options-Navy, Nurse or Marine
Corps. Before the application can be finalized and forwarded for selection consideration, you must ensure that a copy of your
complete transcript, including your entire junior year, is forwarded to your recruiter. Students w/30 or more semester hours or 45 or
more quarter hours of college credit upon application are not eligible for four-year NROTC Scholarships; these students should see
professors of naval science at host university's NROTC unit to discuss. Active duty Navy applicants are ineligible to apply for
NROTC. Active members of other branches of the military may apply if granted a conditional release. Individuals who are
scheduled for boot camp may apply but cannot report to boot camp before a decision is made on their application. If they wish to
report to boot camp prior to a decision being made they must withdraw their application in writing.

A new scholarship that is available at the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA). The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Fund for Student
Support is a need-based scholarship for freshmen applying to the SCA programs. The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Fund for Student
