Twenty-five years of fellowship, memories, and achievement were celebrated in high style at the Association’s Fall Luncheon this past October, as evidenced by the silver anniversary “scrapbook photos” on the following two pages -- check it out! In addition to renewing old friendships, enjoying a sumptuous luncheon, and tapping toes along with the lively and animated “Young at Heart” chorus, UCFRA members welcomed this year’s scholarship recipient, Mitchell Gribbroek, as a special luncheon guest. During the business portion of the luncheon, members unani- mously returned Barbara Ratti, Dick Lavender, and Linda Bonta to the Boar d of Dir ector s for second, two-year terms and also unanimously elected Marilyn Salter to a new, two-year term. By unanimous vote, members also approved two changes to the bylaws: (1) changing the Association’s fiscal year to a regular calendar year and (2) removing the restriction of being eligible to serve only two consecutive years in office for president and vice president of the organization. At its November 6th meeting, board members voted to retain all current Association officers through 2015. In tribute~ With honor and a heartfelt “thank you,” the UCF Retirement Association dedicates this issue of the newsletter to the memory of John Shadgett, who passed away on Nov. 21st at his Winter Par k home. Dr. Shadgett moved from Tampa to serve as a professor in the early years of Florida Technological University and participated in its transition to UCF. Prior to his joining the UCF faculty, he was associated with the University of South Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and Florida State Board of Regents. He retired in 1990 and served the UCFRA as a member of its Board of Directors in the early days of the Association and volunteered to serve a second time two years ago.
