PRIME STEM Project
Peer Tutor Application
The PRIME STEM Project was developed for students destined to reach their PRIME. With funding from
the United States Department of Education TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant, UCF has created
a customized program for a select 120 students pursuing degrees toward graduation in STEM related
majors: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The PRIME STEM Project addresses the
academic and social needs of eligible students enrolled at UCF who are first-generation in college, have a
documented disability, or demonstrate financial need.
Position:
Peer Tutor (several positions)
Approximately 8 hours per week.
Pay rate is $8.50 per hour.
Qualifications:
For consideration, candidates must possess the following qualifications.
 Minimum grade point average of 3.5
 Ability to use a variety of study aids
 Junior or Senior level, (other qualified
 Ability to work well with others
applicants may be considered)
 Positive attitude
 Declared STEM Major
 Comfortable presenting to large groups
 Strong interpersonal skills
 Must have a B or higher in the course
 Knowledge of their major and college
being tutored
 Knowledge of university academic
resources
Responsibilities:
Peer Tutors will:
 Tutor a math/engineering/or science subject
 Establish coaching relationship with PRIME STEM tutees
 Implement study skills techniques
 Complete weekly tutor reports
 Assist with program publications
 Other duties as assigned
