FAQs
tran sform
Will I earn a License? No. In accordance with the State Laws of New Jersey, Makeup Artistry by itself is not a licensed profession. Generally, many Makeup Artists working in the fashion and entertainment industries are considered Freelance Makeup
Artists and possess certifications in advanced makeup training. In New Jersey, the practice of cosmetic enhancement falls
under the umbrella of Cosmetology and Esthetics, however, salons and department stores may employ Makeup Artists without a Cosmetology or Esthetics license to apply makeup for retail promotion and product demonstration purposes. Although
employment for fashion shows, movie sets, or other Makeup Artist gigs may not require a license, having one in Cosmetology
or Esthetics can add significant value and opportunity to a career in the beauty industry. For information on these programs
and/or double enrollment scholarships, please speak to Admissions or visit RobertFiance.com.
What types of jobs are available for make-up artists? Make-up artists are specialists in the art of cosmetic beauty. They
become experts in the latest beauty products and use them to dramatically improve their clients’ natural appearance. Their
job is to help people look and feel glamorous, which in turn can help build their clients’ self-esteem and help provide the
“perfect” look for a daytime or evening event.
Professional Freelance Makeup Artists may practice in a retail setting and make money on sales commissions. They could
work for magazines, modeling agencies, runway shows, theatrical, film and television productions. They can also work for
themselves by starting a Freelance Makeup business, they may oversee a team of other artists who represent their brand and
can help expand their business. They may also launch a new cosmetics line or work for a major label as a demonstrator or
educator. Many make-up artists also possess a license in Cosmetology or Esthetics and work in salons and spas.
There will always be a demand for professional makeup application for weddings, proms, and other special occasions. The
career of a makeup artist working in the fashion and entertainment industry is very fast-paced, exciting, and rewarding. Many
artists trained in all areas of makeup including beauty and special effects start on independent productions while developing their portfolio and resources. After much hard work and time, many artists go on to become Creative Directors, who work
with producers to create their visions for the screen and stage. Creative Directors for big budget productions can make well
over $100,000 a year depending on the venue. Imagine going on tour with your favorite musician being in charge of designing the set hair and makeup? In this highly competitive career, you can be a part of the magic of show business. Did you
know that a Makeup Artist can win an Academy Award?
Will the Academy find me employment? RFMA offers Career Placement Assistance in the form of networking and entry-level
employment opportunities. We frequently work with industry professionals on shows and events where students and
graduates may be invited to participate, network, and expand their portfolio. Please Note, under no circumstances is
employment guaranteed.
Will I receive a 1098-T? No. The Academy does not qualify for student education tax credits and therefore does not issue
1098-T forms. Students may however print tuition and payment statements online through our student system.
Are models provided? The requirement for models varies per class and Instructor. Generally, models may be needed for
weekly class projects, but may not be required as students may work on each other. Please note, the Academy offers assistance in finding models but under no circumstances is this guaranteed.

are due at least 24 hours before starting; the remaining balance is divided into equal payments, due every Monday up to the
2nd to last week of the program. A formal payment schedule, outlining payment dates and amounts, is required. Payments
can also be made securely online through our Student System or through auto-debit.
 Student Loans: Private Student Loans are available through TFC Credit Corporation. Loan terms may extend to 4 years
for certain programs. Interest rates range from 12-22%, depending on the down payment. A co-signer may be required if you
are under the age of 24. There is no penalty of early repayment and the Academy offers graduates FREE refinancing for the life
of the loan. Eligibility is not based on credit so everyone is approved with a valid social security. However, TFC Credit Corp. is
affiliated with all the major credit reporting agencies, therefore, keeping in good standing can help you establish credit for the
first time, improve a weak credit rating, or solidify a good credit profile. As a professional makeup artist, having good credit is
just as important as having a good makeup brush.

obert Fiance Makeup Academy
made me the makeup artist
that I am today. From Fashion
and Beauty to Special FX I have
learned so much. The teachers and the staff are so great at
what they do. They gave me the proper tools to expand
my imagination and go above and beyond with my creations. I have become a Professional Freelance Makeup
Artist working from beauty makeup to zombies and
creatures and I would have not done this without the
Awesome Robert Fiance Makeup Academy!

- Christian Tufaro. Certified Special FX Makeup Artist; Graduated August 2011
“My education from RFMA has lead me to become
a successful makeup artist. The opportunities I have
been given since graduation are endless. I am
booked every weekend with special events including
wedding parties, bachelorette parties, bat/bar mitzvahs, etc. What is extremely exciting is that I have the chance
to use my creativity to the fullest by creating out of the box looks for
events such as face paint parties, Halloween clients, student short films, etc. My
biggest accomplishment as of date is being asked to be part of New York Fashion Week
as a makeup artist for a major brand. Never in my life would I have thought that I would
have reached this level of experience with makeup. RFMA has truly given me
the skills that I needed to become a successful makeup artist. ”

“Robert Fiance Make-Up Academy is the greatest make-up
school ever! The staff is amazing and very talented and taught
me a lot. They gave me all the tools and training I needed to
become successful. They helped me become the successful
make-up artist I am today. Currently I am working not only as a
freelance make-up artist, but I am the head make-up artist at a
high end day spa.”
“I am currently a makeup artist for Laura Mercier cosmetics.
I am also the makeup artist at Russell Scott Hair Designs. Not
only do I love beauty makeup, my true passion is special
effects where I had learned at the Robert Fiance Academy.
I have been lucky enough to show my work in short films and
also photography series.”

I always dreamed of taking my passion in Make-up a step further
and Robert Fiance Makeup Academy allowed me to do just that.
I was picked to do New Jersey Fashion Week in 2011 and I am
currently developing my portfolio. My goal is to be able to work
on-set for editorial and publications and one day see my work
featured in my favorite beauty magazines! I love Robert Fiance!
- Viktoria Britanova-Marinak, Certified Freelance Makeup Artist,

RFMA offered me everything a true Make-up artist should want out
of their career, from helping me to work on my very first commercial, how to prepare and compose myself for plenty of NYC Fashion

Schedule a Campus Tour
The first step is to schedule a tour of the Academy where you will be able to meet with our Makeup Instructors, sit in on a demonstration, test out the makeup in the Retail Center, and see the Artists in action. An Admissions Advisor will review the courses and
class schedules to help package the program that best suits your career goals. Our Financial staff can help you choose an affordable
and convenient tuition payment plan. All students are encouraged to come with a friend.
Registration
Early registration is required due to limited enrollment and preparation of student kits. It is recommended to submit your application
at least one month in advance. Registration can be processed by mail, on campus, or online through our Backstage Student System.
Registration will secure your seat, tuition, and any promotions or scholarships that you may qualify for. An online account will be created where you can view your enrollment and financial information and make a secure payment.
