Preparing your Face
We come into this world with nothing but pure delicate skin that gets damaged by
the dirt, old makeup, aging, and the deadly Ultra violet rays of the sun. Therefore, to
achieve the perfect smoky eye makeup, we must start with cleansing our skin to
make it look as flawless as possible.
Washing your Face

Pull your hair back with a hair tie or headband. We don’t want
things to get messy or your hair to get wet. Getting your hair
out of the way will make it easier for you to cleanse your face.
Wet your face a little before you apply your cleanser.
Get your favorite cleanser.
Apply as much as you desire on your face and leave it there
for 2-3 minutes to soak up all the dirt from your skin.
Take your face brush and scrub it all away.
Gently splash water in your face to remove all the suds.
If there is still residue on your face, gently splash more water until there are
has no more suds.
Beauty tip: Scrub your dirt away by creating,
tiny circular motions. This will help you
remove more dirt effectively so you wont
swipe the dirt back and forth.
Drying your Face
•
•
Take a towel and pat dry your skin.
Once your skin is completely dry, grab your
favorite face moisturizer.
• Apply as much as needed or how much your
moisturizer’s directions
indicate.

How to Do a Smoky Eye Makeup
Applying the primer
This step is nice and easy. Apply your primer evenly throughout your face. Make sure
your hair is still pulled back to make this step simple.
Why primers?
Primers are what help make your makeup stay
on longer. Some smooth fine lines and pores to
help you create the illusion of perfect skin.
Primers create a perfect canvas for foundation
application.
Applying Foundation
1. First make sure you have the right
foundation color for your skin. Ask a
consultant at any beauty store if you’re
unsure of the one that’s right for you.
2. With your hair still pulled back, apply a
small amount of foundation on your
forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose.
3. Gently brush all of the foundation trying
to cover as much of your face as
possible, until every inch of your face is
covered with foundation.
4. You may always add more foundation if
needed.
5. Keep brushing, smoothing, and applying
foundation until your face looks as if you
didn’t apply foundation at all.
6. Remember, the point of using a foundation is to hide your imperfections, not
to highlight them.
Warning: It is extremely important for
you to choose the right foundation. If your
foundation does not match with your skin,
your face will be a completely different
tone than the rest of your body. You want
to make the look as natural as possible, or
else you’ll end up looking like the girl to
the left! Yikes!
Chapter 3: Applying the Eyeshadow

Eye shadow
This chapter focuses on eyeshadow specifics and application. Eyeshadow application is the
most important to have a beautiful smoky eye.
Shadow Color
You can do the smoky eyes with any color eye
shadow. Even though in this how-to smoky eye
manual I specify in the materials that you should
have white, silver and black eye shadow.
• Blue eyes
o Earth tones
o Purples
o Colored greys
o Silver
• Green/Hazel eyes
o Mocha brown shades
o Oranges
o Lavender purple
o Gold
• Brown eyes
o Can wear any color
o Stand out with green or blue eye
shadow
Beauty tip: If you want your eyes to stand out,
try using the shadows listed above for your eye
color. If not, the combination of black, silver,
and white always works for any type of eye and
always matches your outfit!

How to Do a Smoky Eye Makeup
Applying the eye shadow
1. Cut two pieces of tape about the size of your thumb.
2. Put one of the tapes ends on the outer tip of
your eye and the other to the outer tip of
your eyebrow.
3. Repeat the previous step with your other eye.
4. The tapes should look diagonal facing
outward as if your tracing a tape line from the
outer tip of your eye to the outer tip of your
eyebrow.
Beauty tip: Follow these steps in putting the tapes correctly. This helps you keep your
face neat and clean since the eye shadow will be all over your eye lids. It prevents eye
shadow from concentrating in your temples and smudging all over.
.
We want to avoid this!

Step Three
Step One
1. Lightly stroke your eyeshadow brush
on the white eyeshadow.
2. Make sure you have enough on your
brush to apply it on your
brow/highlight on both eyes.
3. After applying the white eyeshadow,
take your brush and brush it against
the towel.
1.
4. Try to get as much of the white
eyeshadow out as possible so it
2.
Step Two
1. Lightly stroke your eyeshadow brush on the
black eyeshadow.
2. Apply it in the outer lid, outer crease and
above the crease.
3. Now that you know the specific areas on
where you should apply each color you can
play around with it and adjust the colors to
your liking.
Lightly stroke your eyeshadow
brush on the silver eyeshadow.
Apply it from the inner lid
crossing the middle lid and just
slightly in the outer lid. Most of
the silver eyeshadow should be in
the inner and middle lid and just a
tiny bit in the outer lid.
3. Clean your brush with the towel as
you did for the white eyeshadow.

The cherry on top
In this chapter you’ll see how to apply the eyeliner, mascara, powder blush and bronzer.
Eye Liner Application
1. With your cream eyeliner trace your lash line and
your lower water line.
2. Trace your lash line with liquid eyeliner for a more
accentuated look.
3. Trace the tip of your inner lower lash line with the
white pencil to add some light to your eyes.
Beauty tip: While applying your liquid eyeliner
put your elbow firmly in a table or flat surface.
Doing so will make your arm more stable and
easier to control tracing your lash line.
Mascara Application
Beauty tip: Applying Vaseline to
your lashes before bed helps
h
Warning: Remember to
always remove your
makeup before going to bed.
Leaving your mascara on
can seriously damage your
eyelashes!
There are different types of mascaras.
Volumizing, lengthening, eye lighting and
even some that do all at once.
1. Repeat the process once or twice more to
create a really fluttery effect.
2. Comb through your lashes with an
eyelash comb.
3. After choosing a mascara start by
applying mascara to your lower lashes.
Brush them downward to begin with,
then brush the lashes upward from
underneath. Use a tiny zig zag movement
from side to side to prevent the mascara
from clumping.

How to Do a Smoky Eye Makeup
Powder Application
Now that you have your fabulous smoky eyes done completely it’s time to put the finishing
touches starting with the powder. Powder provides for a good coverage to create a nice soft
smooth look to your skin.
1. Take your powder and apply it all over your face.
2. Make sure that you’re covering all the
spots.
3. Apply powder in your neck line and
smooth it so you diffuse the makeup.
This helps you avoid having a very
noticeable separation from your neck
and face.
Bronzer: The Sunless Tan
Looking a little pale? Bronzers your solution! Having
a strong black Smokey eye might make people with
light skin seem even lighter because of the contrast
of colors.
1. Start by Applying bronzer in your forehead
with a side to side sweep of the brush.
2. Apply bronzer to your cheek bone going
diagonally up.
3. Apply bronzer on your chin and spread it to
both sides of the face.
4. Apply bronzer in your neck and jawline to
make the bronze color seem more natural
and not have your neck and face different
colors.
Beauty tip: You can also apply a little bit
of bronzer on your chest and where your
clavicle is to make it seem like your
actually tanned.
Chapter 4
19
Blush Application
Blush is my favorite part for a finishing touch.
It gives girls that sweet innocent look with
rosy cheeks.
1. With your brush Apply some blush in
both your cheekbones.
2. After applying blush on your
cheekbones apply it diagonally upward
from the middle of your cheek toward
your ear.
3. Apply a little bit of blush on your nose,
forehead and chin to create a flushed
look but not as much as in your cheeks.
Beauty tip: Applying your blush
diagonally upward it’ll make your
face seem slimmer, accentuating
your cheekbones.

Lipstick Neutrals or Bold
Since the Smoky eye is so dark people tend to use nude or light pink lip glosses or lipsticks.
However, if you’re going for the bold look you can always use a darker shade to have a
more shocking makeup.

Bold?

Conclusion
Now that you’ve completed your smoky eye look you’re ready to go out and flaunt your
new look! You can adjust your makeup so it matches your outfit or you could stick to the
