The 8th annual Christmas Cookie Walk will be held at Epiphany on December
14th from 11am to 2pm. The Cookie Walk is our Christmas fund raiser. This year
funds will be raised for Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp to come to Epiphany for a
week.

Cookies: We need cookies!! And lots of them!!
We are requesting that each household contribute at least 4
dozen cookies. Cookies will be sold by weight.
Breads, Pies, Cakes: If you don’t bake cookies, we
will also be selling baked goods on a per item basis, so
feel free to donate pies, cakes or breads.
Bazaar or craft items: Our members have proven their creativity
time and again. Donate your craft items. Craft items can either be meant as
decorations or as Christmas gifts.
Volunteer: distribute posters to neighborhood businesses, set up on
Saturday 12/13, or clean up after the event.

I’
ve heard all of those statements before from well meaning, good natured people
who just want to move forward during the interim time. You may have even said
something similar yourself recently. I don’t take offense. It may simply be an expression of unease or frustration with being “in limbo”, it may just be that you’re not
quite sure about this whole intentional interim thing. I certainly understand where
that comes from…and to be honest, if it were up to me, we would just get on with it.
xcept, it’s not up to me. We’re God’s church, and we’re on God’s time.
f you thought I was here just to fill in the gap between pastors, think again. Being
intentional during this time means we’ve got a process to move through that will help
us listen to how we are being shaped by God. The process is collective spiritual discernment. That process rests on faithful prayer, but it aims at understanding three
key questions:
- What does God want us to do?
- What do we have to do it?
- How are we going to do it?
t takes the WHOLE CONGREGATION to listen for answers to those questions. No
interim pastor, no matter how skilled or experienced, can answer those questions for
a congregation. Anybody who claims they can is selling something. The congregation
will have a group of leaders to help steer the process (called the Transition Team), but
even they cannot discern God’s will for the community all on their own. It will take all
of us together, and the answers will not be written in a handbook somewhere. Instead, all we have to lean on is our shared faith that God will show us a vision of our
future if we are willing enough to embrace the challenge of letting it emerge in God’s
time.
I hope, no…
I trust, no…
expect our faithfulness to shine in this process. I realize that this is an anxious time
for some and an exciting time for others, but no matter where you are, it can be a
faithful time in which we collectively prepare ourselves for God’s hand to create us
anew.

The children & youth of Misión Latina Aurora, one of our new mission congregations, designed &

Metro CareRing understands that everyone celebrates the holidays differently.

Holy Land: Recent Israeli land declaration hinders peace, Bishop
