Endoscope with EndoSheath Technology ® Recommended Cleaning and Disinfection Procedure FOR INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL The EndoSheath® System is a sterile, disposable, durable microbial barrier that isolates an endoscope from patient contact, and limits the need for time-consuming, high level, chemical disinfection after every endoscopy procedure. EndoSheath® technology allows for efficient and effective reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and ensures a sterile insertion tube for every patient procedure. INSTALLATION Select the proper sheath for the endoscope make and model (see chart below). Peel back the top portion of the package and slightly lift the proximal connector without removing the entire sheath from the package. Before inserting the endoscope, ensure the endoscope is clean and dry. Ensure the insertion tube is free of defects and the optics are free of debris. Hold the endoscope handle and articulate to straighten the bending section to the neutral position. Hold the proximal connector with the other hand and align with the axis of the endoscope. Do not use force when installing the sheath. It is extremely important to insert the endoscope carefully to avoid excessive bending of the insertion tube. Slide the proximal connector onto the endoscope strain relief until it is firmly attached. TROUBLESHOOTING: If glare is evident when viewing through the endoscope, the sheath window is not in contact with the tip of endoscope. Ensure endoscope is fully inserted when loading. REMOVAL NOTE TROUBLESHOOTING • Do not use force when removing the sheath. If moisture is observed, there may have been a breach of the sheath during the procedure, providing the endoscope was dry when the sheath was attached. In this case, the endoscope should undergo high level disinfection or sterilization. Refer to the user’s manual for recommended protocols. • If the sheath buckles or folds over on itself, slide the proximal connector back toward the scope strain relief or interface, far enough to eliminate wrinkling. • If the sheath does not slide freely, instill a small amount of alcohol inside the proximal connector with an eye dropper or pipette into the EndoSheath to separate the sheath from the insertion tube. Grasp the sheath proximal connector and gently rotate and pull to disengage it from the scope strain relief or interface by 1-2 cm. Gently grasp the middle of the sheath and begin to slide it toward the distal end of the instrument in order to disengage the clear plastic window from the tip of the scope. Once the clear plastic window is disengaged from the tip of the scope, grasp the plastic window portion of the sheath and slide the sheath off the scope. Discard sheath. inspect After removing the sheath, inspect the endoscope insertion tube and distal bending section and confirm these areas are dry and undamaged. CLEANING AND INTERMEDIATE LEVEL DISINFECTION Clean Gently wash all external surfaces of the endoscope with an appropriate instrument-grade detergent. Lukewarm water Ethyl or isopropyl alcohol Wipe down the entire After washing, thoroughly rinse the outside of the endoscope with clean, lukewarm water. Air dry Ensure all external surfaces of the endoscope are dry prior to installing another sheath. New sheath endoscope, including the control body and insertion tube, with gauze soaked in 70% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. iCLEAN inspect • Clean • Lukewarm water • Ethyl or isopropyl alcohol • Air dry • New sheath MAKE MODEL ENT SHEATH MAKE MODEL ENT SHEATH MAKE MODEL ENT SHEATH OLYMPUS ENF-P2 224301 ENT CHANNEL ENT SENSORY 334301 444301 PENTAX VNL-1530T -- ENT CHANNEL ENT SENSORY -- -- OPTIM ENT 3.6F 224401 ENT CHANNEL ENT SENSORY -- -- OLMYPUS ENF-P3 224301 334301 444301 PENTAX FNL-7RP3 224101 -- -- KARL STORZ 11101RP 226301 336301 446301 446401 OLYMPUS ENF-T3 -- -- -- PENTAX FNL-10RP3 225401 335401 445401 KARL STORZ 11101RP-1 226401 336401 OLYMPUS ENF-P4 224401 334401 444401 PENTAX VNL-1130 225501 -- -- KARL STORZ 11101RP2 226401 336401 -- OLYMPUS ENF-GP 224401 334401 444401 PENTAX VNL-1170K 225501 -- -- KARL STORZ 11101SK1 226101 -- -- OLYMPUS ENF-L3 -- -- -- PENTAX VNL-1070STK 226401 336401 -- KARL STORZ 11101TP -- -- -- OLYMPUS ENF-XP 224101 -- -- PENTAX FNL-10RBS 225401 335401 445401 WELCH ALLYN RL-150 225401 335401 445401 OLYMPUS ENF-V 224501 -- -- PENTAX FNL-10RAP -- -- -- S & N/ GYRUS Duraview OL-1 225301 335201 445301 OLYMPUS ENF-V2 226401 -- -- PENTAX FNL-13RAP -- -- -- GYRUS ACMI 800-600 225401 -- 445401 OLYMPUS ENF-VQ -- -- -- MACHIDA ENT-3L 225301 335301 445301 VSI ENT-5000 225601 335601 445601 OLYMPUS ENF-VT2 -- -- -- MACHIDA ENT-4L 222401 332401 442401 VSI ENT-4000 225601 335601 445601 PENTAX FNL-15RP3 -- -- -- MACHIDA ENT-2L 222101 -- -- VSI ENT-3000 225401 335401 445401 PENTAX FNL-10P2 225401 335401 445401 MACHIDA ENT-30PIII 225301 335301 445301 VSI ENT-2000 225401 335401 445401 PENTAX FNL-10S 225401 335401 445401 MEDTRONIC SharpSite 3.2 mm 225401 335401 445401 VSI ENT-1000 225101 -- 445101 PENTAX FNL-13S 222401 332401 442401 MEDTRONIC SharpSite 3.8 mm 225401 335401 445401 VSI E-F100 225301 335201 445301 PENTAX VNL-1330 222401 332401 442401 OPTIM ENTity 222401 -- 444401 XION EF-NS 226401 336401 446401 For further information, please call Medtronic ENT at 800.874.5797 or 904.296.9600.
