New Year’s Resolutions As the New Year approaches we begin to consider ways we would like to improve our lives by making New Year’s Resolutions. The Library is a great place to find information to help you start the New Year on the right foot. USA.gov provides a listing of popular New Year's Resolutions and related government resources to help you meet your goals as well. What are you going to focus on this year? Drinking Less, Eating Healthy, Becoming More Spiritual, Improving Your Education, Finding a Better Job, Losing Weight, Managing Debt, Managing Stress, Going Green, Saving Money, Volunteering… Come into the library and begin to put your resolution into action. We’d love to help! Another type of resolution you could make is to embark on something called a "365 project." Lauren Lampasone of the New York Public Library, suggests to “do something — anything — but the same thing every day for a year. Draw a picture, take a snapshot, jot a short journal entry, or write a poem — do whatever it is you enjoy that will help jump start your creativity.” The possibilities are endless! One American’s List Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Guthrie was an American singersongwriter and folk musician whose musical legacy includes hundreds of political, traditional and children's songs, ballads and improvised works. In 1942, 30-year-old Woody penned this whimsical 33-point compendium of “New Years Rulin’s.” The list, originally featured on Brainpickings.org in 2011 is, “equal parts brave and vulnerable, brimming with a kind of heart-warming earnestness we’ve come to be tragically cynical about.” What’s on your list?
