In Memoriam
The son of an Aboite member, Rosalie
Eversole, has passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2015. Joseph Eversole was 22 years old and was a graduate of Homestead high school. He
worked along side of his father at
DTM.
Please remember Rosalie and her family in your prayers. If you would like
to send a card please drop it off at the
office and we will send it on to the
family.
One of our long time members, Marion Hague, started this ministry in 1999. She
worked with a variety of women at Lutheran Hospital acquiring, sorting and
distributing magazines. When health issues forced Marion to stop, another current member, Karen Rydman, stepped in to allow the ministry to continue.
Magazines are donated by many businesses in and around Aboite Township, including Aboite Lutheran Church. Volunteers pick up the magazines at the different sites for donation and deliver them to the hospital for sorting. Magazines
which are not appropriate for patients are taken by a volunteer to a
Lutheran church on Decatur Rd. in Ft. Wayne. There they are recycled at
“Energy Control” in Ossian and those magazines are turned into insulation. The
monies received from the insulation are given to that Lutheran church to help
out with badly needed funding for church programs.
This week there will be a new storage cabinet for magazines only inside the back
entrance of the church. Please take your magazines out bags and place on a
shelf . Please do not leave magazines or bags of any kind sitting on the floor or
around the cabinet. If there is no room to store the magazines. Please take
them to the church office.
If you would like to donate magazines, please bring them in good condition, no
older than one year (unless they are craft, National Geographic, etc.) and mark
out your address labels rather than cut them out.
The Magazine Ministry is in need of volunteers at this time. Any time you have
to spare would be greatly appreciated – please contact Colleen at 436-5673.
NOTE: This would make a worthwhile and fairly easy project for one or more
families to do together!
