Book: Linear Algebra and its applications; David C. Lay fourth edition with MyMathLab access
code.
Homework: Graded homework is assigned online using MyMathLab. Additional problems will
be assigned in class but those will not be graded.
Information to sign in to MyMathLab:
Online Assignments: Each online assignment has a due date. Any technical issue such as internet
access, computer malfunction, etc. is responsibility of the student to address and it will not be
considered a reason to change the due dates of the assignments.
Calculator: A calculator capable of performing matrix arithmetic is required. The suggested
models are: TI-83 and TI-84. Cell phone calculators, tablets, laptops or other devices with
communication capabilities will not be permitted for quizzes and tests.
Test: There are 3 tests scheduled and they might be subdivided in different subtests during the
test day.
No makeup for missed tests. In the event of missing a test due to a documented medical
emergency the grade of the final exam will substitute the grade of the missed test.
Final Exam: Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. The final exam is
mandatory and if you miss the exam you automatically fail the class.
Attendance: You may be dropped from the class if you miss the equivalent of one week of
classes.
However, it is your responsibility to drop the class if you decide not to finish the course.
If your name appears on the grade roster at the end of the semester and you did not attended
during the semester, you will be assigned a Fail grade. Therefore, be sure to drop the class if you
do not intend to finish the course.

education with integrity and honesty. Any cheating or dishonest behavior shall be reported to the
Vice President of student Services for disciplinary action.
Math 270 – Linear Algebra: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to perform a realworld task requiring Linear Algebra mathematics that demonstrates meaningful application of essential
knowledge and skills. Examples of essential knowledge and skills at the Linear Algebra level may include
but are not limited to: a) Performing elementary matrix and vector operations in Euclidean n-space and
using them in applications, b) Solving a system of linear equations using matrix methods.
Students with disabilities, whether physical, learning, or psychological, who believe that
they may need accommodations in this class, are encouraged to contact Special Services as
soon as possible to ensure that such accommodations are implemented in a timely fashion.
Authorization, based on verification of disability, is required before any accommodation can be
