welcome
Dear Fund Industry Professional,
On behalf of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), it is my pleasure to
invite you to our Global Fund Industry Seminar that takes place on:
Friday, 16th January 2015
at The Four Seasons Hotel
8 Finance Street, Hong Kong
This seminar will provide fund industry professionals with an overview of recent developments in the investment funds’ business environment in Luxembourg.
With total assets under management of more than 3,000 billion euros, Luxembourg is
Europe’s number one investment fund domicile and second only to the US on a global level.
The Luxembourg financial center is the world leader in UCITS products (Undertakings for
Collective Investments in Transferable Securities) that comply with the relevant EU regulation and are enabled to be distributed across Europe while offering at the same time a high
level of investor protection.
Building on our UCITS experience, we strive to seize the opportunities of the Alternative
Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) to further develop our already broad range
of alternative investment products, including hedge funds, private equity funds and real
estate funds.
At our interactive seminar, renowned experts drawn from a variety of professions will brief
you on the Luxembourg fund industry’s solutions in the field of AIFMD implementation and
on recent and upcoming regulatory changes impacting the fund business. We will namely
highlight the opportunities offered by structuring an RQFII via Luxembourg.
As the world’s leading platform for cross-border fund distribution, it is self-evident that we
also address current evolutions in the global distribution of both UCITS and alternative
investment funds.
Participation in the seminar is free of charge. A detailed program is enclosed.
We hope you will consider attending our seminar and forward our invitation to colleagues
you believe would be interested to participate.

Current distribution trends - covering both traditional (UCITS) and alternative
(AIFs) investment fund products
The AIFM Directive holds out the possibility to create a worldwide brand for alternative investment fund products, similar
to what the UCITS Directive achieved for traditional products over the last 20 years, but, what’s happening to date? Are
asset managers truly embracing the AIFMD to enhance their distribution opportunities? What are the latest UCITS
product distribution trends? How is regulation on commission bans, investor suitability, etc likely to impact fund distribution
in the future? What types of traditional and alternative investment products are currently attracting the strongest asset
flows? This panel will discuss and debate the above questions.
