Of course, most of us remember the
invitation of the shepherds and
angels to worship and adore the new
born savior in Bethlehem at
Christmas. Unfortunately many of us
forget this invitation as soon as
Christmas is over. Adoring Jesus Christ is a year
round calling. Every one of us who claim to be
Christian should be spending time everyday
adoring God. During this year of prayer, we are
going to be offering opportunities to grow in faith,
to learn about prayer and to spend time actually
praying. For many years, our parish has offered
Eucharistic Adoration on the 4th Wednesday of
the month. We’ve also offered Adoration every
Wednesday during Advent and Lent. I am happy
to announce that beginning in January, Adoration
will be offered every Wednesday, all year long
from 9:00 am to 8:00pm. You are invited to drop
in anytime on Wednesday to make a visit for a
few minutes or spend an hour. But in order to
make this happen, we need at least two people
committed to spend 30 minutes to an hour each
week before the Blessed Sacrament. If you able
to sign up for a specific time slot, please call
Mary, 636-274-1717, or Maria, 314-707-2136.
Another New Year
This week we will celebrate the end of the old
year 2014 and the arrival of another new year,
2015. As Catholics, we celebrate the Solemnity of
Mary, Mother of God (which is a Holy Day of
Obligation) in order to consecrate the New Year to
Mary. Masses will be celebrated on Wednesday
December 31st at 5:00 pm and on Thursday
January 1st at 8:00 am and 10:00 am. I want to
wish all of you a very blessed and Happy New
Year.

Do you have an old car you want to sell? Old baby
furniture or clothes? Electronic items or toys and
games your kids have outgrown? Are you having
a garage sale, a block party, a Tupperware party?
Why not consider advertising in the Parish
Please use the trailer on the lower parking lot for
recycling aluminum, copper and brass only. We
cannot accept aluminum foil, foil pans, glass, tin or
steel. All proceeds benefit our youth. Thanks for
your continued support.
Bulletin?
The Fundraising Committee is initiating a program
for posting unclassified ads in the bulletin. These
ads will feature personal items for sale and
personal/family events. No business related ads
will be allowed since these would conflict with the
advertisers using the back page of the bulletin
whose ads make the publication of the bulletin
possible. All ads will be posted on a first come,
first served basis.
The ads are restricted to 21 words (about 3 lines
of text) and must be submitted by the Friday
(nine days before bulletin publication). All items
are subject to approval by the Fundraising
Committee, whose decision about publication is

THE READINGS:
Second Sunday after Christmas
Epiphany

FIRST READING: Isaiah 60:1-6
Our first reading comes from the final part of the Book of
Isaiah. The original context out of which the oracle grew
was the situation of Israel late in the time of the
Babylonian Exile and/or early in the time of restoration.
In that context, the oracle speaks of hope, hope for reuniting the people of Israel in their homeland, hope for
peace among the nations of the world, hope that Israel
will provide light, will be a means of procuring peace
and justice.
In its final form as Scripture, the Book of Isaiah addresses
all believing communities of all time. The book proclaims
to us that we have a mission, we are to be a light of God’s
revelation for all people, that we are to be a means of
establishing a relationship between God and all humanity,
a means of establishing peace and love.
SECOND READING: Ephesians 3:2-3, 5-6
The second reading is from the Letter to the Ephesians,
one of the deutero-Pauline letters. Ephesians broadens
the perspective found in the undisputedly Pauline letters
