Fares information
On the following pages you can find out what
fares will be charged on bus and train services
over the Festive Holidays.
Why normal fares when a Saturday
service operates on a weekday?
Bus and train service levels do not dictate if a
peak or an off-peak fare is to be charged for
your journey
Off-peak fares are only available all day on
Saturdays, Sundays and recognised Public
Holidays.
These are the Public Holidays that are defined by:
• Statute - these are holidays when Banks
are traditionally closed. These dates are
specifically listed in the Banking and Financial
Dealings Act 1971.
• Royal proclamation - this is when a Public
Holiday in a given year is moved or a one-off
extra Public Holidays is created for special
occasions such as Royal Weddings.
During public holidays, such as Easter and
Christmas, bus and train services generally
operate to revised service levels over the holiday
period.
So, even if a Saturday service operates on a
weekday that is not a Public Holiday, normal
weekday fares apply.
