An opportunity currently exists in the classified service within the Department of Law and Public Safety,
Juvenile Justice Commission, Office of Administration, for permanent State of New Jersey employees in the
competitive division who meet the minimum job requirements specified below:
TITLE:
Technical Assistant 2, Purchasing
SALARY:
$36,158.13 – $50,644.71
LOCATION: Juvenile Justice Commission

NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: One (1)
DUTIES:
Under direction of a Technical Assistant 1 or other supervisory official, performs functions in support of
purchasing operations; provides technical assistance to professional buying staff engaged in completing
sophisticated procurements, special analytical projects; monitors procurement transactions to ensure agency
compliance with purchasing regulations and prompt payment of bills; collects background information for and
assists in preparing simple commodity specifications and collects accurate purchasing production data as a basis
for periodic management reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Completion of sixty (60) semester hour credits at an accredited college.
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of paraprofessional or technical support experience in procurement/purchasing.
Knowledge of NJCF and Mac-e and Business Objects preferred.
NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required 60 semester hour credits may substitute additional
experience as indicated above on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation
of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
The “New Jersey First Act,” N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), requires new public employees to
reside in the State of New Jersey within one (1) year of employment.
