OVERVIEW
A black women and run company, Maono was
formed when a gap in the market revealed a primarily
male-dominated industry.
Having spent many years in the banking industry
Hantsi Mayeza, the founding member of Maono, had
been exposed to business opportunities within the
construction industry. It is here that she saw an opening
in this particular market.
When it comes to wielding
strength in the construction
business, Maono are really
showing their mettle.
Having had no history and no portfolio within the
construction industry meant that Maono acquired an
excellent partner base with companies that only shared
a similar ethic, but had a history and a credible track
record. Once this was in place, and the right people
had been brought on board, the company was able to
play in the waters of the construction industry.
Maono Construction was nominated as a 1st runner up
in the Govan Mbeki Awards as Best Woman Contractor
in a subsidy market and a 2nd runner up in the same
awards as the Best Priority Project.
Associates
Maono is an Enterprise Development Partner of Group Five Building.
Maono is a shareholder in Mayula, a material supplier company, supplying all
construction related materials at competitive prices.

ONLY GOOD INTENTIONS
Parys RDP Housing
They ensure that not only are clients happy with
the quality of the work produced, but also that solid
working relationships are nurtured.
Within 3 to 5 years Maono would like to achieve
CIDB level 9 grading which will allow a venture
into far bigger and more profitable projects.
Service with a smile
If truth be told, women have a natural flair for attending to detail. Maono can certainly take the lead
there. Not only do they offer full business services
that are required from a construction company, but
when a job is done it is done with a little something
extra.
Maono goes above and beyond the call of duty
The social economic impact of their projects on the
community and all beneficiaries involved must always be a positive one. This is why each project has
a community liaison officer who is responsible for
the local community approach. This does not relate
only to RDP projects, but the whole value chain is
closely managed to ensure savings in other areas.
Maono has
repeatedly proven,
since its inception, that
growth is systematic
and sustainable.
OUR TEAM
We choose projects
which drive the growth
of the business and
serve as a launchpad
to greater endeavours.
This means that there are no
dormant skills sitting in an office
space. All the required skills are
drawn on when necessary from a
pool of trusted and professional
suppliers and subcontractors.
Currently Maono can draw from
a talent pool of over 20 different
companies, who offer different
skill to get the job done both
quickly and efficiently at the best
price.
The company also has a core staff
of 23 with a further 20 general
workers on site.
Company services include:
• The supply of construction materials, machinery and equipment
• The construction of housing
• Property development such
as malls, office blocks, residential development and integrated
housing developments.
• Civils, road and stadiums.

OUR TEAM
The company is defined
by an entrepreneurial spirit
and a flat structure model
From quick turnarounds to staff that are very clear
on what is required, each member has a responsibility to the whole business and not just their job
description, with a more outcome based focus.
Information and knowledge is shared, where
people are given the space to make real-life decisions and take ownership of their specific role.

THE PROJECTS WE CHOOSE
Tumahole Stadium
When choosing to tender
for a specific project, the
company will perform a risk
assessment and its impact
on current business
Once this has been achieved, each project
is individually tacked based on its specific
requirements with a very hands-on approach.
The roads projects have been particularly
challenging with the company finding creative ways to deliver a fleet line to a customer, despite initial hurdles along the way.
This boils down to a
dedicated staff going
above and beyond to get
the job done, every time
This is why the company will never take
on more than they can deliver and will always stay true to their clients and projects
they tackle, and to themselves.

GIVING BACK
An abiding belief in the
philosophy that ‘whatever
good things we build end
up building us’ underpins
the spirit of Maono
Maono’s business ethos of giving back extends from
their projects to a more formalised CSI approach.
Examples of this include:
Giving an additional contribution of R3 million to
a Parys housing project by adding extras such as 50
ceilings, full electrical on all houses, Painting on all
Houses, using a semi face brick, using chromadeck
sheeting for roofing, House Donation worth R84 000
in Heilbron and Tweefontein and Material donation
to the tribal Chief in Tweefontein worth R250 000.
Delivering food parcels to over 300 families during
the Christmas period in the area that we operate.
Offering 5 fully paid up bursaries to students with
potential at well-known and quality boarding schools.
