THE GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS- THIS ADVENT:
ADVENT RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
When did Christmas get so
complicated? Making lists. Checking
them twice. Decking the halls.
What if we rethink what we’re
celebrating? Focus on comforting
others. And sharing the greatest Gift of all. Finding
the true meaning of Christmas.

fresh look at this season we celebrate each year. This
Advent, we will discover the “The Gifts of Christmas,”
and once again find the real meaning in the midst of
all the holiday chaos.
Invite your friends and family to join us in worship,
celebration, and learning each Sunday this Christmas
season, and on Christmas Eve at 7pm. Join us as we
rethink what it is we are really celebrating.
ALIVE YOUTH TOYS-FOR-TOTS BAKE SALE
For two years now, the ALIVE Youth Group has
collected baked goods to sell downtown in order
to purchase gifts for teens to be donated to the
Toys-for-Tots drive through Coopersville Cares. In
those two bake sales, they have raised over $4000 for
local teens!
This year, they're at it again! On Saturday, December
13, from 10-1pm, the ALIVE Youth Group will be at
the corner of Main & Eastmanville selling all sorts of
baked goods.
And they need your help! They need your baked
goods! These can be dropped off at the church the
week before the sale on Thursday, December 11 from
8-2PM & again from 6-8PM. They also need you to
come that Saturday and "buy them back!"
Since that first bake sale in 2012, your Youth have
become passionate about ensuring that all kids have
the chance to receive Christmas gifts through the
Toys-for-Tots program. Because most people donate
gifts for younger children to the program, your Youth
focus on purchasing, with the money raised from the
bake sale, gifts specifically for teens like them!
Help your ALIVE Youth to have another great Bake
Sale!

NAME TAGS
The office is in the process of providing new name
tags for the volunteers on Sunday. The new tags have
a magnet that holds the tag on your clothing. Do you
have a Pacemaker? If so then please inform Kris in the
office and she will make sure there is a clip badge for
you to wear.
These magnets are very strong, enabling them to hold
through your clothing. Because of this strength the
magnet bar cannot be pulled directly off of its metal
base. Any attempt to directly pull this magnetic bar
off will also pull the metal base plate and adhesive
completely off the badge rendering it useless.
Magnetic bar should be removed by sliding it off of
the metal base.
If you have any question, please contact Kris.

your church electronically, as well? Did you know that
if you do online banking, you can set up automatic
payments to the church? Do you have an interest in
direct debit of your tithe and other church giving? If
any of this sounds interesting to you, the Finance
Committee encourages you to speak with Bob Koch
about the options we have for electronic giving to the
church. You can speak to him in person, or email him
([email protected]).

raise money for Church World Service, MARS (Ravenna’s

75 walkers, we had 9 organizations participate and the
total money raised was $5,897.22. Coopersville

Dr. Eggerichs is the author of the international

biblical knowledge about male-female relationships
will help the married, separated, divorced, single, and
dating person who wants to grow in understanding.
Emerson will be sharing his excellent teaching in a
way that will have the Committed Marriage Event at
Centerstage Theatre roaring with laughter. You may
have already heard him on Dave Ramsey’s Financial
Peace or Focus on the Family radio shows.
Purchase tickets for $17.50/single or $35/couple

Saturday, January 17, 2015 to Sunday, January 18, 2015 First UMC in Grand Rapids 207 E. Fulton St, Grand Rapids

"Be the change you want to see in the world." Ghandi shared those words decades ago, yet they still appear
scribbled on our notebooks or as an Instagram post today. Why? Because it's what we're meant to be about. Join
hundreds of other youth from the West Michigan Conference to make a difference alongside one another and to
equip your youth groups to "Be the Change" that is needed in your communities back home. You will have a ton of
fun, meet some awesome people, and leave the event energized and ready to "be the change you want to see in
the world!" Adult Leaders - There will also be a time for you to network with other youth workers!
What is "Be the Change?" Be The Change is a Conference Youth Event that will be centered around Acts of Service
in Grand Rapids (specifically downtown), which will set up an amazing challenge to the Youth Groups of our
Conference! The Youth Service Fund is sponsoring the "Change the World Challenge", which is where the Youth
Groups present will brainstorm and work on a program or opportunity in their local communities to make
a HUGE difference. A group of judges will then choose a winner who will win up to $1500 to help fund this
difference maker! This weekend event will have great food, a ton of games, and a chance to meet some great
youth and other adult leaders from around our great state! See you there!
Cost is just $10 per person (youth and adult leaders!). If any youth from our church are present, at least one adult
per 6 youth must be present for the entire event as well, as this is a great time to build relationship amongst your
group as well! Money and release forms are due at the day of the event.

ALIVE Youth Lock-In
DEAR CHURCH FAMILY,
This comes as a reminder that Coopersville UMC has a
Memorial Endowment Fund.
The Coopersville UMC Memorial Endowment is a
permanent fund, which provides perpetual support
for our church. Your gift to the endowment continues
a lasting legacy to Coopersville UMC. Only the interest
from the fund can be spent, not the principal that
anchors the endowment. The interest from the
endowment about 4% can be reinvested or used by
the Trustee Committee for capital improvements on
the building. Administrated by the Coopersville Area
Community Foundation which is an affiliate of the
Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.
Consider honoring your loved ones by giving a gift to
the Endowment Fund.
