Dear Parishioners,
Weekend Masses:
This is a joyful weekend for us at Our Lady of
Good Counsel Parish as we join Kathy and Bill
Wallace and their family and friends in celebrating the Ordination to the Priesthood of Father
Christopher Wallace. What a Grace it is for us
for Father Chris to come back to his home parish to celebrate his First Mass of Thanksgiving!
We join his parents, family and friends in offering our heartfelt congratulations and our pledge
of prayers for the priesthood of Father Christopher Wallace.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish can also take
pride in the gift given to Father Chris of a beautiful chalice. The chalice, once used by Fr.
Duperry himself, was stored away in the sacristy at St. Theresa Church. It was missing a
paten, needed a few jewels replaced, and was
in need of restoration. But the chalice itself is
truly beautiful. The gift took on even more significance when we learned of Father Chris’s devotion to St. Therese, whose image is engraved
on the chalice, and that he knew Father
Duperry personally, having grown up here in
the parish. I think Father Duperry would be especially pleased that a newly ordained priest
and son of the parish would now have his chalice where it can be used for the holy purpose
for which it was originally crafted. I made a gift
of the chalice to Father Chris in the name of all
of the parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel, and his parents had it beautifully repaired
and restored. May it serve Father Chris well all
the days of his priestly life!

Prayer to Mary
Holy Mary, Mother of God, you
have given the world its true
light,
Jesus, your Son—the Son of God.
You abandoned yourself completely to God’s call and thus became a wellspring of the goodness which flows forth from him.
Show us Jesus. Lead us to him.
Teach us to know and love him, so that we too
can become capable of true love and be fountains of living water in the midst of a thirsting
world.
Pope Benedict XVI
Many Thanks to all that attended and donated to our
“Italian Night” Pasta Dinner May 18th! The cast and crew
of the “Perfect Love” Cantata was outstanding in bringing
forth an awesome dinner and great service to our parish
and guests of other parishes. They worked very hard and
I am so proud of everyone involved. I truly am surrounded by such a wonderful and talented group of
friends and a loving OLGC community!
I also wish to take a moment to thank all of the choir
members who have put so many hours and deep dedication into our Music Ministry here at OLGC. (The best
around….in my humble opinion!) I don’t know if many
parishioners realize the MANY hours each choir member
dedicates to our music program due to so many special
masses, holidays and the Cantata; lately about 6-8 hours
per week between rehearsals & masses. So, a big “Thank
you!” to is due. If you love to sing and wish to be a part of
our choir, please contact me personally. My info appears
in the staff section of the bulletin.
We are all looking forward to this weekend as we celebrate the “Mass of Thanksgiving” for Fr. Chris Wallace.
God bless,
Are you going to the hospital? Having surgery? Please
remember to let the hospital know that you are a Catholic. If you are being admitted at either Holy Family or
Lawrence General make sure that they list your Parish in
your admission record.
