II programs in women’s collegiate gymnastics, the Minnesota school features a young roster with two seniors and 10 freshmen. THE SERIES ... vs Winona State: UAA leads 16-12 (tied 8-8 in Anchorage) Last: UAA 190.025-186.075 (2/8/10 at Centenary) / Streak: UAA 9 Notes: UAA’s current win streak dates back to 2002 ... UAA posted backto-back dual victories over Temple to highlight its final season in the Wells Fargo Sports Complex, and posted a season-high 192.200 score in the season finale at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in March ... then-sophomores Stefany Bryan Penker and Simone Penker and then-freshmen Julia York and Kallie Randolph all earned All-MPSF accolades, while Bryan became the 13th gymnast in program history to qualify for the NCAA Div. I West Regional Championships. BRYAN MAKES REGIONALS, TABBED MVP: Stefany Bryan was named the team’s 2014 MVP on Apr. 23 when the Seawolves celebrated with their year-end banquet … Bryan was an NCAA Div. I West Regional Championships all-around qualifier – just the 11th in program history – and earned All-MPSF honors in the all-around and on uneven bars … the Seattle native competed all-around 10 times, averaging 37.548 and Bryan producing a career-high of 38.475 on Feb. 16 … Bryan’s 9.584 bars average ranked 10th-best in program history, and she also made the MPSF All-Academic Team with an overall GPA of 3.75 … other team award winners included Julia York (Most Improved) and Sariaye Jensen and Simone Penker (co-Most Inspirational). MORE GYMNAST NOTES: Along with Bryan, the 2015 Seawolves return three gymnasts with NCAA Regionals experience, with senior Morgan Cook and junior M’rcy Matsunami both making it as freshman, in 2012 and 2013 respectively ... after being limited by an ankle sprain for four straight meets, Cook returned to the all-around in UAA’s last two 2014 regular-season competitions, topping the 38-point mark each time … Cook with a season average of 38.025, Cook tied for 10th on UAA’s all-time list, while her 9.609 average on beam ranked 5th and her 9.622 average on floor was 15th … Cook tied for team-high honors in 2014 with four individual event victories … on UAA’s other season average lists, Kallie Randolph ranked No. 5 all-time with her 9.682 mark on floor, Julia York was No. 12 on vault at 9.643, and Nicole Larkin tied for No. 16 on bars at 9.536 last season … Randolph equaled Cook with four all-around victories — all on floor exercise. After founding the Seawolf program in 1985, Stoklos has produced 37 Academic All-Americans. Under his tutelage, the Seawolves have earned 39 All-America certificates and five USAG individual national titles. In 2003, Stoklos led the Seawolves into the Div. I ranks and has raised the team’s talent level to its highest ever. In 2009, Stoklos led the Seawolves to their first-ever MPSF league title. Stoklos is assisted for the 20th straight season by Tami Monette, along with 1st-year assistant Alyssa Straub.
