Bernard, Janet Louise,
63, Millbrook. It is with great sadness that we announce
the passing of our mother Janet on Monday, December 29,
2014 surrounded by her family and friends in the

many years; member of St. Anne’s planning committee where she also fundraised for St. Anne De Beaupre
trips, which was inspired by her devotion to St. Anne. She was a long-time employee of the Millbrook
First Nation Band Council at the Truro Junior High School where she worked for 29-years. She was
proud and it gave her great satisfaction to help the children of Millbrook achieve a higher education.
She truly admired the children and staff she worked with. She loved to dance, sing karaoke, bingo, and
spending time with her family and friends and writing poetry.
She is survived by her partner of 23 years Woodrow Ellsworth; son Colin Bernard (Holly) of Millbrook;

Chip.
She was predeceased by her husband Matthew Bernard; sisters Sandra, Linda, Angeline; nephews Shawn
Paul, Kevin Bannon, Stephen Charles Denny, Jonathan Bernard, Roger Cope; niece Sharon Cope.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.

Exemption at a First Nation Gas station must have their application signed by the
Band membership Clerk. The Band manager and Chief and Council can no longer
sign off on these applications.
In order to be processed, you must include a copy (front and back) of your license
and status card with your application. If applying by mail include a copy of your
licence and status card by photo image to the cell phone (1-902-956-4339) or image
sent to [email protected]. We have to verify your information on the
application before it is sent to Service Nova Scotia.
Once your application has been signed off by the membership clerk, it can take up
to 10 business days for the card to be activated. The only way you will know it is
working is if you use it at a FN Gas station.
Please Note: Only individuals with a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s license are eligible
for the program.
If you require additional litres, you must be currently enrolled in the program. The
band membership Clerk does not need to sign off on these applications for the
additional litres. You can get the forms online from the webpage link below.
If you are from another band (not a member band of The Confederacy of Mainland
Mi’kmaq) your own Band membership Clerk must sign off on your form. We do not
have access to your information in the IRS (Indian Registry System) to verify your
application.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at 1-902-895-6385, Ext 234.
Sincerely,
Tricia J. Fultz
Acting Indian Registration Administrator
