St. Augustine, St. Benedict the Moor & St. Mary Churches: Pastoral Region One Jan.11, 2015 REGION ONE LITURGICAL SCHEDULE [SA] = St. Augustine [SB] = St. Benedict [SM] = St. Mary Fri. Jan. 16 8am [SM] SM Parishioners Sat. Jan 17 4:30pm [SB] SB Parishioners 4:30pm [SM] Fred Spang, Pat & Jerry Moorman, 60th Wedding Anniversary 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Sun. Jan 18 8:15am [SA] Allen T. Hess, Sr. 9:45am [SM] Millie Woeste, Ruth Hohl 11am [SB] SB Parishioners 1:15pm [SM] Spanish Mass THE BAPTISM OF OUR LORD MY CHOSEN ONE It may surprise you to know that God says to us each time the same words he spoke to Jesus today anytime we will do our best. “This is my beloved son, my favor rests in him” My chosen one, yes it is true God has chosen each one of us to be his own. He called us in a special and unique way. He did first call us at our birth and again in a more wonderful way when we were re-born at our baptism. In baptism, he gave us a share in his life. For the first time he spoke to us in these words: “This is my son, the chosen one in whom my soul delights” Perhaps, what we need to ask ourselves today will be; what do I need to do so that the father may be delighted in me?” What makes you feel happy about your children as a parent? I am sure it is when they obey you and act on your will doing the right thing at the right time and at the right place. The same is true with our relationship with God. When we act wisely, God delights in us and we delight God. In the words of Isaiah, the chosen ones of God always bring true justice, serve the cause of right, and help the needy. God has taking us by his hand let us follow him always.
