HAM DINNER – January 24TH Ash Hall, 4:30 – 7:00 pm
The Haiti Mission Team will be holding a Ham Dinner to raise funds for the projects we will be
involved in during our trip February 7-14, 2015. Tickets will be available after each worship
service and at the church office during business hours. Take outs will be available too. Please
contact Carolyn Foust 364-2468 if you are able to assist with food preparation, serving, or
clean up. There will be sign-up sheets in the hallways to volunteer or to provide some of the
food items for the dinner. Please make this church-wide mission trip a huge success. Mark
your calendars for a fun night out. Good food for a good cause.
Pastor Mark will be out of the office on the following dates: January 12, 13 and
14, and 19 – 23. He is required to be on campus on these dates. However, he
can still be reached by phone and/or email.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Central PA World Hunger Association – Meat Canning will take place February 9-12, 2015 at
the East Derry Fire Company; it is located at 1800 Glenwood Ave., 2.2 miles N. on route 522 from
the 322 & 522 interchange in Lewistown, PA. Bob Booz will coordinate transportation for those
interested in assisting in the meat cutting on Monday, February 9, 2015. We will plan to leave the
church at 7:30 AM and return at noon. A sign-up sheet is in the hallway.

Help for Haiti
Please help with fundraising efforts for our February mission trip to Haiti. Our goal is to
raise $10,500.00. Money will be used for building projects for the people of Haiti. None of
the money will be used for travel expenses for our 21 member team.
The Grace UMC “Peanut Butter Egg” fund has already donated $3,500.00. That money
could fund a village project for three weeks, but we still have $7,000.00 to earn for two more
projects.
Checks may be made payable to GUMC with “Haiti Fund” on the memo line. Cash may
be placed in the coin collection kettle at the front of the church or given to the children when
they collect each Sunday. Thank you, in advance, for your help!

The Cellar Dwellers class is looking for people willing to
prepare Grace Cakes. Supplies are in the kitchen.

The GUMC Youth Group will be going on a mission trip to Black Water, West
Virginia in late July to early August. This is open to youth ages 13 to 18. The youth
will be working with the Blackwaters State Park on some projects, as well as a local
church to host a VBS and other minor building projects. Please contact Pastor
Mark or Adam Jepson for more details. Additional information will be provided in
the coming weeks.

Team TJ is participating in the New York RIDE TO VICTORY, (a
150 mile bike race to raise money for immunotherapy cancer research)
June 6-7, 2015. We have 5 riders participating and raising funds for
theCancer Research Institute, and are offering these t-shirt sales to help
us meet our fundraising goal of $12,500. The navy blue and white
design features TEAM TJ in the center, with the inspirational quote:
When the world says, “give up,” HOPE whispers, “try one more
time.” on the front of the t-shirt. On the back, the number 59 is
highlighted - the number of tumors that TJ has beaten to date – along
with Support ASPS Research and the www.cureasps.org website
address – this is the specific cancer that TJ and his family are fighting.
We have two t-shirt styles to choose from in youth and adult sizes.
