retired from teaching Choral Music in June 2011 from Mynderse Academy in Seneca
Falls, where he taught for thirty-five years. All of the students' work with the guest
conductors will culminate in an open to the public, free concert on Saturday, January
17th at 2:00 p.m. at South Seneca Jr./Sr. High School in Ovid. Come hear us sing!
GEMM SHOP

An “Art Gallery”
at the Gemm Shop
Going to the Gemm Shop is like going to an art gallery!
That’s right, you heard right, an art gallery. This month, artwork from the elementary art department headed by Clarissa
Plank, will be on display. Also, artwork project - Line Design
- from the 4th grade class of Mrs. Ilgen/Mrs. Blayock . A total
of 10 students will have their artwork featured.
The Gemm Shop has many winter items still available. Now
that the New Year is here, why don’t you pamper yourself by
going to the Gemm Shop. Check-out the bargains and find
that “something” you always wanted. There are clothes for the
entire family plus books, kitchen items, movies, toys and lots
more. And if there is a birthday to be celebrated, then a gift certificate from the Gemm Shop is an ideal gift, for that someone
who is just a bit picky. Surely they will find something at the
Gemm Shop to suit their tastes.
The Gemm Shop has been in the community for over 40
years. It is an established thrift shop for the entire family, located on Main Street in downtown Trumansburg across from
the Tompkins Trust Company. Hours for the shop are Monday
– Friday -10 am to 4 pm and Saturday 10 am to 1 pm.
On Tuesday evening, January 13, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Vince’s Park in
Seneca Falls.
Mr. Stephen Childs, New York State Extension Specialist in the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell
University; will be the presenter. The workshop will cover a variety of aspects of maple syrup production including: why make maple syrup, tree identification, tree health, tapping, sap collection and handling, boiling,
energy efficiency, finishing and grading syrup, canning, marketing and regulations. This workshop is aimed at
the small or beginning maple producer and would be useful to the homeowner looking to tap a few trees in the
backyard or someone wanting to start small-scale commercial maple production.
The fee is $15.00 per family. Registration is required. Space is limited so register early! To register or for additional information, contact Cornell Cooperative Extension at 315-539-9251 or email: [email protected] or
