and sponsored by The Friends of Staffordshire’s Young Musicians
(FOSYM).
FOSYM is a registered charity which exists to advance the musical
education of children and young people resident in Staffordshire.

The competition is open to solo singers aged 10 - 19
who live and are educated in Staffordshire or Stoke on Trent

The competition is open to any young solo singer aged 10 -19
Entrants must
• Live in Staffordshire/Stoke and be educated within Staffordshire/Stoke
• Be able to perform at a reasonable standard
First Round: Saturday 7 March 2015
10.00am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm

The Kingston Centre, Stafford, ST16 3TW
First Rounds:
Parents and friends are encouraged to support all the entrants at the first
rounds at The Kingston Centre, Fairway, Stafford ST16 3TW
Entrance by programme, available at the door only.
£3.00 adults £1.00 children. Refreshments available

Grand Final: Saturday 16 May 2015, 3.00pm

Staffordshire Singing Competition 2015
Regulations of the competition:
All entrants must:
• be aged 18 or under on 31 August 2015 (or up to 19 if still in education at a Staffordshire
•
or Stoke School/College)
live within the geographical boundaries of Staffordshire and be educated in
Staffordshire/Stoke
FIRST ROUND DETAILS
The decision of the adjudicator is final.
Performance requirements - two contrasting pieces of a suitable standard in any style, eg
folk, classical, opera, music theatre, pop etc.
No amplification or CD backing is allowed.
Props and movement are allowed.
All entrants must bring a copy of the song/s for the use of the adjudicator on the day.
All entrants will receive a write up of their performance and a certificate.

Accompanists –
• entrants can bring their own accompanist
• or use the official accompanist on the day.
• A short warm up rehearsal just before singing is allocated.
• CD backings are NOT allowed.

Times – a performance session will be allocated as per your request. However if a session
time is popular we reserve the right to put you forward to the next time slot. Entries will be
allocated strictly by date of receipt. Each session will be followed by an adjudication.

GRAND FINAL DETAILS
The decision of the adjudicators is final.

for the final you must be able to offer and introduce a song programme of three
contrasting accompanied or unaccompanied songs: maximum total 10 minutes.

Up to 7 performances will be selected from the first round to perform in the Grand Final.
•
Finalists rehearse in the venue on the day of the final. An official accompanist can be
available if required.

PRIZES
The winner will receive £200, a certificate and a trophy and will be invited
to take part in concerts during the year.
Runners up in the final will each receive £50 and a certificate.
All prizes are donated by the Friends of Staffordshire’s Young Musicians
