Ironworker Apprenticeship
Laborer Apprenticeship
The iron working industry is very strenuous and most tedious.
An Ironworker must be alert at all times in order to perform the
duties of connecting, welding, installing decking, in addition to
climbing, lifting, sitting, standing, bending and pulling of the
steel in the erection of buildings and spanning of bridges.
The skills of a Construction Craft Laborer are diverse, requiring classroom instruction and hands-on training. Because of
this diversity, the Construction Craft Laborer is often the first
craft on the project and the last to leave. The type of work
performed will depend on your knowledge and skill level and
the type of work needed at a job site. You may build and
repair roads, highways, bridges and tunnels; construct residential and commercial buildings; clean up hazardous waste
sites; or perform other kinds of work. Among the tasks you
may do are: drilling and blasting site areas, building scaffolding, preparing and cleaning up a job site, laying pipe underground, placing concrete, flagging and controlling traffic on
roadways, and working with other crafts, just to name a few.
The Construction Craft Laborer's range of skills is, by far, one
of the most diverse in the industry and we provide the best
training for our apprentices and journey workers.
An Ironworker is a stalwart individual with a great deal of upper
body strength for twisting, turning, and awkward postures of
the back. Blueprint and drafting reading are a part of the training to become an Ironworker and safety is a plus in training and
working side by side with co-workers and other Craftsmen.
Iron work is performed inside and outside in most weather conditions.
You must:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or a GED Certificate.
Successfully pass a drug test.
How do I prepare for the trade?
