California Institute of Technology—Chandler Dining Hall
This exciting institutional project for one of the Southland’s great universities
required a comprehensive re-thinking of college food service. TGA worked with Cal
Tech development staff, food service management, and world-class RiccaNewmark Design to produce this innovative and attractive student dining venue. In
addition to the substantial enlargement of the aging facility, technical challenges
included wholesale replacement of aging infrastructure, and an ambitious
construction timetable driven by the university’s educational schedule. In particular,
TGA excelled at meeting delivery deadlines, and providing nearly instantaneous
construction phase project support. Students and faculty now enjoy many dining
choices, in an elegant, restaurant-style facility in the center of campus.

Allen-Brigden Classics
This new mixed use project in Pasadena includes live-work units, as well as several
affordable dwellings. In a unique response to the constraints of transitional site,
client vision, location, and tight budget, TGA synthesized an architectural response
that reflects the local architectural heritage and provides a gateway project to the
quiet neighborhood beyond. Belying its humble constraints, simple traditional forms
translate a sense of permanence and comfort.

Landscape Development, Inc. Regional Headquarters
Landscape Development (LDI) is a progressive site work design-build company
requiring both attractive executive offices and functional warehouse/
maintenance facilities to serve field personnel and construction crews. For
durability, speed, and cost-control reasons, TGA selected a concrete tilt-up
building type, with a panelized roofing system, and concrete-filled steel decks for
the executive office areas. Emphasis was placed on timely project delivery,
thorough bidding/ construction documents, and construction phase support
services that anticipated a high-level of Owner involvement. TGA excelled in all
areas, providing design and construction support services for a cost-effective,
long-lasting regional hub for this growing company.
