This course will provide a comprehensive classroom and clinical education in phlebotomy.
Participants will learn the techniques, skills and equipment used for the purpose of safe
and effective blood collection. The students will be expected to demonstrate the ability
to obtain patients’ blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection techniques
on each other. This course includes anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
Following successful completion, students will be able to sit for the NCCT National
Phlebotomy Technician exam for an additional $90. Students must have a Hepatitis B
immunization and two-step Mantoux (TB) screening prior to beginning the class.

Sixteen clinical hours are scheduled and announced after class begins.
This curriculum includes infection control, safety and emergency measures, resident’s
rights, human needs, basic nursing skills, restorative care, personal care, disease
processes and daily hands-on training in lab. This course is designed to prepare the
student for the Ohio State Nurse Aide exam. The test fee is $96. A current two-step
Mantoux (TB) screening and physical are required.

exam. Auto insurance and driver’s license are required for this program. There is a $45 non-refundable
application fee. Applicants must complete an application before admission and meet admission
requirements. Students are required to attend an orientation session prior to the first night of class.

Learn the basic techniques of shielded metal arc welding (stick), MIG & TIG, as well as
burning and cutting techniques. Class is mostly a hands-on experience. Students must
supply their own welding helmet, gloves, leather boots, safety glasses, chipper hammer,
10” vice grips, and a stainless steel wire brush. (Estimated cost for supplies, $73.00).
Class is limited to 10 students.

To get a good job today, you need basic academic and workforce skills, and access to
affordable, high-quality higher education options. ABLE (Adult Basic Literacy Education)
classes are FREE to all eligible students. Improve your reading, writing and math skills;
get ready to go to college or an adult certificate training program to get a better job or
prepare for the GED test. We have morning or evening classes to fit your schedule but
students must attend an orientation session before participating in class. Contact Tolles at
614.873.4666 x 4248 to learn more about the program, and register for class.
If you are an employer and have employees in need of skill enhancement for 21st century
jobs, ABLE also offers workplace education.
Tolles Site: Orientation dates: January 13 - 15; March 3 – 5; and April 28 - 30.
This program will train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities
of a medical office. Instruction includes among other things preparing patients for examination and treatment,
routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration
of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, a professional
workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 140 hours of classroom
lecture and hands on labs and a clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for
the clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140 hour program, submit to a thorough background
check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students
would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
national examination. Course Contact Hours: 140 hours + Clinical Externship Hours: 160 hours
This 50-hour course prepares students to function effectively in many of the administrative & clerical positions
in the health care industry. Medical Administrative Assistants, Medical Secretary, and Medical Records Clerks are
all positions in great demand. This program covers important background information on the medical assisting
profession and interpersonal skills, medical ethics and law, medical terminology, basics of insurance billing
and coding, telephone techniques, scheduling appointments, medical records management and management
of practice finances. This program is intended to provide students with a well-rounded introduction to medical
administration so that a student can gain the necessary skills required to obtain a medical administrative assistant
position in the health care field. (Clinical Externship is 40 hours.) Note: This program meets the necessary
requirements to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) - Certified Medical Administrative Assistant
(CMAA) exam. Course Contact Hours: 50 hours + Clinical Externship Hours: 40 hours

Become a full-time Emergency Medical Technician in Ohio. This course meets and/
or exceeds the state’s certification requirements for a professional EMT in Ohio. The
program follows the state and national curriculum for EMT. Students can expect a
challenging classroom curriculum combined with practical hands-on training. Students
who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for the State of Ohio and
the National Registry written and practical exam. Test fee is $75. Included in the class are
ten hours of practical “hands-on” experience with local hospitals and emergency medical
providers.

The 60 hour Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry level positions in one of the fastest growing
health care positions – Dental Assisting. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with all areas of
pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in
the dental practice. This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative Aspects include: the
history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; policies
and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment,
introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper
patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and other areas. In addition to entry-level administrative
jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program. Course

ESOL Classes
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) helps non-native English speakers 18 or
older improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English. ESOL classes are
held at the Church at Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026. ESOL classes are
offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and are FREE, but students must attend an
orientation session to enroll in class. Contact Tolles at 614.873.4666 x4248 to learn more
about the program.

Online learning can help you gain an education or new skills without having to travel to
Tolles campus. Students have the flexibility to study at their own pace combined with

GED® Exams
Congratulations on making the decision to take the GED®. You are on your way to taking
a very positive step forward by earning your GED®. The computer based GED® test now
costs $120. Fortunately, Ohio has $80 GED® test vouchers available to first-time test takers.
In order to qualify for the $80 GED® voucher, we need to ask a few standard questions and
provide you with the opportunity for career and educational guidance. Once this process
is completed, you will receive an assigned voucher number by e-mail within one to three
business days.
Tolles is an official GED® Test Center. In order to take the GED® exam, go to
www.ged.com where you can register & pay for the test online AND schedule your test
session. Please arrive 15 minutes early and bring a valid, photo ID.
