Fall 2013 A publication of the University of Michigan Credit Union UMCU Partners with UMHS to Benefit C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital The University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) has made a major contribution to the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) for the benefit of the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. The gift will be used to benefit the outstanding work done by the hospital as they continue to be the leaders and best in healthcare by providing excellence in medical education, patient care and research. “University of Michigan Credit Union is extremely honored to be a part of this amazing collaborative effort with the University of Michigan Health System. As we continue to serve the University of Michigan community we are also very excited to be able to contribute to the amazing work that is done by the University of Michigan Health System, as it continues to pursue excellence in healthcare”, said Tiffany Ford, President and CEO of the University of Michigan Credit Union. The gift, in the amount of $342,000 will also be used in part to support the art installation, “Ancient Arb I” bronze fossil floor showcased at the main entrance of the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. The piece is a bronze, terrazzo, mother-of-pearl and shell inlay created by internationally acclaimed artist Michele Oka Doner. In addition to the fossil floor installation, University of Michigan Credit Union and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital are working together with students from the University of Michigan to develop a mobile application and activity book that Mott’s patients and their families can use to engage themselves while at the hospital and at home. “We are very grateful for the support from the University of Michigan Credit Union. The art installation at our front door is a favorite with children and adults alike, and we look forward to the future possibility of the mobile application and book. On behalf of the staff and patients of our hospitals, I want to say thank you to the great people at the University of Michigan Credit Union,” says Paul King, Executive Director of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. UMCU remains focused on serving the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor communities, and continues to uphold the credit union’s motto of “people helping people” through community service, education, outreach and volunteerism.
