FIRESAFETY INSPECTOR I CERTIFICATION - REQUIREMENTS
To be certified as a Firesafety Inspector I in the State of Florida, an individual must successfully
complete 200 hours of basic certification training for Firesafety Inspectors, or have received
equivalent training in another state, and pass a state written examination.
Documentation of training is to be submitted with the required Application for Firesafety Inspector
Certification Examination (DFS-K4-1023), Personal Inquiry Waiver (DFS-K4-1020), along with
all other supporting documents, at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled test date.
Please note, the Firesafety Inspector I application requires that you submit fingerprints (digitally)

Five 40-hour courses are required for certification. The courses are offered at the Florida State Fire
College, Community and Junior Colleges throughout the state, and some of the Certified Training
Centers.
