Tournament Guide
Welcome to the only RMR sanctioned 14-18 tournament in Western Colorado! Mesa Juniors Volleyball Company is proud to host this event. We are
committed to providing a nurturing and competitive environment for our youth volleyball players and look forward to seeing th em play for years to
come.
Sportsmanship and Code of Conduct
Mesa Juniors Volleyball Company and USA-Volleyball are committed to providing a positive sporting environment during this event. All participants, coaches and
spectators will be held to behaviors in accordance with the attached Code of Conduct which will also be posted at the site. This is a sanctioned event and therefore
your participation or presence may be revoked at any time. We expect your cooperation in creating a learning environment fo r our players, coaches, officials, line
judges and scorers.
Site
Colorado Mesa University will be the only competition site for the entire tournament. There is no need to change facilities during the day. Find a seat,
get comfortable and cheer for your team!
Site Rules
Colorado Mesa University is the premiere site in Grand Junction to host volleyball tournaments. We ask that you respect the rules of the facility so we
can continue to have a great venue for competition.
- Please refrain from bringing food and drinks (other than water) into the gyms.
- Please be conscientious to dispose of your trash properly.
- Coolers will need to be stored outside the gym and clear of the walkways.
- Bleachers that are in the folded position may not be used as seats.
- Fold up chairs will only be allowed in the upstairs auxiliary gym, where bleachers are not provided.
- Ball handling should only be performed in the gym (not in the hallways).
- Use of the elevators is reserved exclusively for people with disabilities.
Parking
On Saturdays and Sundays, you may park in any lot surrounding the gym at Colorado Mesa University.
Hospitality Room/Concessions
Due to regulations from the university, Colorado Mesa University will be providing concessions. A Hospitality Room for coach es will be stocked with
breakfast items, lunch items as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day. For parents, there are several food places wit hin walking distance from
the college to grab a quick bite to eat. There is also an Albertson's with a Starbuck's across the street.
Tournament Schedule/Format
The tournament will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a coaches meeting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday (coaches must
bring photo ID's with them to the meeting). On day one, teams will play one complete pool. Teams will then be re -seeded and play a portion of the
second pool (designated by a red line on pool sheets). On day two, teams will complete the second pool and play in a bracket . All four-team pools will
play best two out of three sets rally scoring. Sets one and to will be scored to 25 (cap of 27) with a third set, if necessa ry, rally scoring to 15 (cap of 17).
The five-team pool (Pool A) will not be re-seeded into another pool; instead the pool results will determine seeding into the bracket. They will play
three sets. Sets one and two to 25 (cap of 27) and set three to 15 (cap17). Gold, Silver and Bronze brackets will play two out of three sets rally scoring
to 25 (cap of 27) with a third set, if necessary, rally scoring to 15 (no cap). Bracket matches for 3rd -6th place will be one game to 25 (no cap). The
tournament schedule and results will be posted on site for reference, but tournament packets will not be available, so be sur e to print yours ahead of
time if you would like your own copy. Awards will be given to the winner of the Gold, Silver and Bronze brackets. Ties will be broken per the
guidelines issued by USA Volleyball-RMR. If two teams have the same match record, the tie will be broken by head to head result in pool. If three
teams have the same match record, the tie will be broken and the teams will be seeded by set percentage followed by total poi nt differential.
Officiating/Scorekeeping
Each team will need to provide a USAV certified first official (R1) and scorer. Additionally, each team will need two lines judges, a down offic ial (R2), a
libero tracker and a flip scorekeeper. It is the responsibility of the officiating team to keep the warm up time to 10 minut es.
Match Schedule and Warm Ups
Matches will begin 10 minutes after the conclusion of the previous match. The warm up will be a 2 -4-4 format. Two minutes of shared court time, 4
minutes for the serving team, 4 minutes for the receiving team.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – ENTRY TO THIS PRIVATELY SANCTIONED EVENT IS GRANTED AS A
COURTESY. IF YOU ENTER/ATTEND THIS, OR ANY REGION SANCTIONED EVENT, YOU AGREE TO
ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING CODE OF CONDUCT GUIDELINES:
I WILL:
1. I WILL abide by the official rules of USA Volleyball.
2. I WILL display good sportsmanship at all times.
3. I WILL encourage my child and his/her team, regardless of the outcome on the court.
4. I WILL educate myself on the unique rules of this facility.
5. I WILL honor the rules of the host and the host facility.
6. I WILL generate goodwill by being polite and respectful to those around me at this event.
7. I WILL direct my child to speak directly with his/her coach when coaching decisions are made that may be
confusing or unclear.
8. I WILL redirect any negative comments from others to the respective Event Director or Program Administrator.
9. I WILL direct all concerns regarding officials to the Head Coach or Club Director for my team/club as opposed to
contacting the Head Official directly.
10. I WILL immediately notify the Event Director and/or Program Administrator in the event that I witness any illegal
activity.
11. I WILL support the policies and guidelines of the team/club that I represent.
12. I WILL acknowledge effort and good performance, remembering that all of the players in this event are amateur
athletes.
13. I WILL model exemplary spectator behavior while attending this event.
14. I WILL respect the history and tradition of the sport of volleyball by being a good ambassador.
I WILL NOT:
1. I WILL NOT harass or intimidate the officials or other match participants.
2. I WILL NOT coach my child from the bleachers and/or sidelines.
3. I WILL NOT criticize my child’s coach or his/her teammates.
4. I WILL NOT participate in any game or game-like activities unless I have a current membership card with
the Region and I am on the roster for the team on the court
5. I WILL NOT bring and/or carry any firearms at any Region event.
6. I WILL NOT bring, purchase, or consume alcohol at any Youth/Junior volleyball event.
Note: Any violation of this Code of Conduct will result in you being asked to leave the site/facility, and may
result in you possibly being banned from attending future Region sanctioned events. Fines will be assessed to
the Affiliated Club and will be collected by the Region, these fines may range from $200 - $500 depending on the
type of violation. Multiple violations of this policy will be reviewed by the RMR Junior Committee in which they
will assess fines and possibly revoke permission for any individual to attend any RMR Sanctioned Event for any
length of time. The Event Director has the FINAL say regarding their individual event. Local law enforcement will
be contacted if necessary to resolve any disputes or altercations. Questions or concerns may be directed to the
