The Ausdance skill set for Teaching Dance has been designed for dancers who are experienced in at least one form of
dance, who want to pass on that knowledge. As such it is not a training program for people who have very little dance
experience. This questionnaire has been designed to help the trainer learn about your dance background, and to support
him or her to determine your existing level of knowledge and skills.
Required knowledge for participants beginning the Ausdance skill set for Teaching Dance:

Training fee
The investment in the Ausdance skill set for Teaching Dance is $1350 (single upfront payment) or $1380 (for the 3
instalments), GST is not applicable. An additional $5 administration fee applies for any additional instalments, per
instalment. A $5 per month late fee may apply for each month amounts are outstanding. It is a requirement that skill set
participants are current Ausdance SA members. If you are not a current member please fill out the membership form and
include the relevant payment with your enrolment. $33 concession, $66 single, $110 group, includes GST.

· The Ausdance skill set for Teaching Dance will be referred to as the skill set
· Ausdance SA (Australian Dance Council) refers to its office staff; skill set trainers and the
organisation itself. Your trainer is Cherie Broad, Education & Projects Manager, Ausdance SA.

· I consent to photo and video being taken and used for promotional, media and record keeping
purposes at the discretion of Ausdance SA.

be administered, may be necessary by the skill set trainer and skill set participants.
· I acknowledge that I take part in the skill set at my own risk. I will personally advise every dance
instructor prior to physical activity of any existing injuries or relevant information.
· I will follow safe dance practice, including warm up, for all activities and manage my injuries or
special requirements appropriately (e.g. bring knee pads, support bandages or medication).
Participants in the skill set are only covered by public liability insurance while participating in the
event if they are injured as a result of negligence by the professional staff engaged for the event.
Insurance for personal accidents and loss or damage of personal property is the responsibility of the
participants (and their parents/guardians if under 18 years of age).

Successful participants will be prepared for teaching in social,
recreational and community settings, and also in schools
(but in a supervised capacity only).
Participants who wish to pursue further studies are advised

Graduates of full-time dance/physical theatre courses
The skill set contains four units of competency from
the CUA11 Live Performance Training Package:
Certificate IV Dance Teaching and Management.
Two are core units and two are elective units. This is
a nationally endorsed training program.
Freelance dance artists working in

– community, social and recreational contexts
– dance studios
Registered teachers wanting to gain recognised professional
learning in their field or to expand their teaching portfolio
Independent practising artists working for organisations
to present dance to students
Applicants must have effective communication skills.

Assessment
The skill set focuses on practical skills (i.e. competencies).
It covers both theory (e.g. anatomy and OHS) and
practical activities (e.g. presenting elements of a lesson).
Training materials
All materials and training manuals are provided.

The skill set is delivered through State and Territorybased Ausdance offices. For details contact your local
Ausdance office.
Fees and charges
Only Full Fee places are available. Fees are payable
on enrolment, but may be paid in instalments by prior
arrangement. Please contact your local Ausdance office
for more information.
Recognition of current competencies
Ausdance recognises AQF (Australian Qualification
Framework) Certificates and Statements of Attainment
issued by other registered training organisations.
Recognition of prior learning
If you have gained skills from previous studies or industry
experience you may be able to gain exemptions through
the Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) process.
A fee applies.
Skill set duration
Total study time is 90 hours, with 70 hours face-to-face
training within a group context. There will be some home
study and assessment tasks.

Interested applicants should complete an enrolment form
and Learner Assessment Checklist and return both to your
Ausdance office. You will be contacted to confirm your
enrolment. We may interview you prior to confirmation
of enrolment.
