NOTICE TO ALL EXHIBITORS – ENTRY INFORMATION
No entry will be accepted unless all particulars called for on the entry form are completed in full. HANDLERS and AGENTS
please note the full name and address of all owners MUST BE FILLED IN. Incomplete entries will be returned. No entry will be
accepted unless accompanied by the Entry Fee. Telephone entries cannot be accepted. Exhibitors must abide by errors
made in entering their dogs regardless of how or by whom the entries were made. Change or cancellation of any entry after the
closing date is prohibited. An error in the class, date of birth or sex may be amended on the entry form up to one hour before the
start of the trial. Moving Up a Dog to the Next Class in the Trials is permitted providing it is completed on the appropriate Move
Up Form one hour prior to the start of the start of the next show/trial. Only dogs already registered in the Canadian Kennel Club
Stud Book, or are eligible for such registration can be entered. The committee reserves the right to refuse any entry subject to
CKC rules. Judging Schedules will be e mailed as soon as possible after entries close. Any NSF cheques or credit cards will be
subject to a $25.00 service charge. Entry fee plus service charge for NSF cheques or credit cards must be paid in cash prior to
competing.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Trial precincts shall be the interior of the Canine Development Centre. The Superintendent will be in full charge of the trial,
which will be governed by CKC rules. The Thunder Bay Kennel & Training Club and the Trial Committee will use care and
diligence for the welfare of all dogs, exhibitors and spectators, but will not be responsible for, nor assume any liability in the event
of an accident or misfortune, however caused. If because of riot, civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of
management, it is not possible to open or complete the trials, no refund of entries will be made. Refunds will be made when a
bitch entered in the Trials comes into season after entries close if a Veterinarian’s certificate is delivered to the Event Secretary
before the date of the trial. Entry fees will not be refunded should a dog be absent, sick, lame or excused by a Veterinarian,
Judge, or Superintendent. It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to have the dog at ringside when the dog’s class is scheduled
for judging. The exhibitor is responsible for knowing and complying with the CKC Obedience and Rally Obedience Trial Rules. It
shall be the duty and obligation of the Trial club to see that the judges, club officials, ring stewards, volunteers or competitors at
the Trial held under these regulations are not subject to indignities of any kind.

TRANSITION CLASSES
A dog eligible for a PEN number may NOT be entered in these classes as a listed dog.
Pre Novice is for dogs that have not earned the title of PCD (Pre Companion Dog) in Canada or has not earned the title of CD in
Canada or a comparable title in any other country. This is an elective class and earning a title is not required to advance to
Novice Classes. This is a pass/fail class and will be qualifying ribbons only.
Novice Intermediate is for dogs that have earned the title of CD, CDX UD or any other advanced title in Canada. Dogs may be
entered in Open and Novice Intermediate at the same trial. This is an elective class and earning a title is not required to advance
to Open Classes. Scores earned in this class are not eligible for High in Trial. Dogs are eligible to compete in this class
indefinitely. This class will have a 1st to 3rd placing, same as the regular classes.

OBEDIENCE PRIZE LIST
CANINE COMPANION NUMBER (CCN)
A Canine Companion Number (CCN) allows mixed-breed dogs and unrecognized breeds to compete in CKC Agility Trials,
Obedience Trials and Rally Obedience Trials.
To be eligible to receive a CCN, all of the following must be met:
1.
The dog must be either a Mixed Breed (a dog of unknown ancestry that belongs to no
recognized breed and is not the result of selective breeding) or an Unrecognized Breed (a dog
of known ancestry not on the CKC list of recognized or miscellaneous breeds and that is
registered with a Registry recognized by the CKC)
2.
Mixed Breed dogs must be spayed or neutered. Unrecognized Breeds are not required to be
spayed or neutered. .
3.
The dog must be properly identified with a CKC approved microchip.
A dog that is eligible for a CCN may not be entered as a Listed Dog. Dogs may only enter events after a CCN has been issued
to that dog. Dogs with a CCN will be entered as ALL CANADIAN where the breed in indicated on the entry form and in the
catalogue. The CKC may cancel for cause any Canine Companion Number.

OBEDIENCE BREED PRIZES
PERFORMANCE EVENT NUMBER (PEN)
Effective, January 1, 2002, a Performance Event Number (PEN) allows a non-registerable dog of a CKC registered breed to
participate in competitive events that are appropriate for the breed. Those events are as follows: Obedience Trials, Rally
Obedience Trials, Tracking Tests, Herding Trials, Draft Dog Tests, Agility, Lure Coursing, Earth Dog Test, Hunt Tests, Working
Certificate Test and Pointing Field Dog Tests.
To be eligible to receive a PEN, all of the following must be met:
1.
The dog must be of a breed recognized by the CKC.
2.
The dog, for one reason or another, must not be eligible for CKC registration.
3.
The dog must be spayed or neutered.
4.
The dog must be properly identified with a CKC approved microchip (not necessary for ILP
dogs).
5.
The dog cannot be on the CKC Miscellaneous Class List.
6.
In case of a foreign born dog residing in the USA, in addition to the above, the
dog
must have been issued an AKC ILP number.
A dog that is eligible for a PEN may not be entered as a Listed Dog. Dogs may only enter events after a PEN has been issued
to that dog.
Note: Prizes are for qualifying scores only in Obedience. All prizes must be claimed at the trial.
** TRANSITION CLASSES DO NOT QUALIFY FOR AGGREGATE/BREED TROPHIES *
EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER (ERN)
Effective, January 1, 1992, all dogs that are foreign born and foreign owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering
CKC events will no longer require a CKC registration number but will require an Event Registration Number (ERN). This ERN
Number MUST be applied for within 30 days of the first day of entering a CKC event. Dogs may be entered as “Listed”. Failure
to apply for an ERN Number within 30 days of the first day pf entering a CKC event WILL result in the cancellation of any wins,
awards or scores.

SAME DAY ENTRIES
A dog that is registered in the records of the CKC or has a PEN, ERN, MCN or CCN number may enter on the same day of the
trial, HOWEVER a new entry form must be completed by the owner or handler and submitted to the trial secretary, along with
the appropriate fee ($35.00 per dog, per trial) one hour prior to the scheduled start of the trial for which the dog is being
entered, schedule permitting. The trial secretary shall amend the judge’s book and the marked catalogue, which is to be sent to
the CKC.
LIMITED ENTRY
When Judges’ assignments have reached 7 hours, entries will close automatically, even if official closing date has not arrived.
CKC Rule 4.3.3: The 7 hours is based on the formula of 9 Pre Novice entries, 8 Novice entries, 7 Open entries, 6 Utility entries
per hour and 20 dogs per hour for Rally. When the advertised limit has been reached, all remaining entries may be assigned a
position (by class) on the reserve list. The person making the entry shall be notified of his/her position on the list. In the event
that the entry of a bitch in season is pulled after closing date, it may be substituted with one from the reserve list up to, and
including, the day of the trial.
BITCHES IN SEASON
Where a bitch comes into season after entry of the bitch has been submitted to the Trial Secretary, a veterinarian’s certificate,
certifying that the bitch was in season within the ten day period preceding the trial, must reach the Trial Secretary on or before
the date of the trial. The Trial-Giving Club will refund the entry fee.
FOREIGN EXHIBITORS
A dog which has earned its CD title in the US is not eligible for entry in the Novice A class and a dog which has earned its CDX
title in the US is not eligible for the Open A class. Such dogs must be entered in the B class respectively. Dogs with an
American ILP number are NOT eligible for entry at Licensed Obedience Trials held under CKC regulations, but may be eligible
for a PEN Number (see below). Spayed and neutered dogs are eligible for entry at Licensed Obedience Trials.
MOVING UP
A dog that is registered in the records of the CKC or has a PEN, ERN, MCN or CCN number and has fulfilled the requirements
for a title in accordance with these rules, may be moved to the next level of competition..
When one or more trials are held on the same day in the same venue, the request for moving the dog
up must be made a minimum of fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled start of the class for which the dog is being
moved up to, schedule permitting. The trial secretary shall amend the judge’s book and the marked catalogue, which is to be
sent to the CKC with the requests attached to the appropriate entry forms.
