MONDULI DISTRICT SURGICAL CAMP REPORT
AKNOWNGEMENT
Board of Director of “SAVE LIFE THROUGH MOBILE SURGEONS” is conveying appreciation to
MOHSW, DED , DMO Monduli and all hospital workers for good coorparation making the sugical
camp possible.
TEAM
We had a team of four surgeons:Dr Casper Haule M.D, MMED General Surgery.
Dr Luzango Maembe M.D, MMED Gynaecology/Obstretrician
Dr Elimwidini Swai M.D, MMED Gynaecology/Obstretrician
Dr William Ramadhan. A M.D, Mmed General Surgery.
IMPLEMENTATION
In coorpation with Monduli Distric Hospital Doctors and Nurses our Team divided interchangably
into three groups two surgeons in theatre, one in recovery and one surgeon screening patients.
SURGICAL CAMP
261 patient appeared within four days of the camp. Among those 84 patients were found to have
different surgical and gynaecological problems which required surgery. We managed to operate 24
patients within the four days of stay. Most of our patients were females who had uterine myoma,
ovarian mass, breast tumor,Recto-viginal fistula, lipoma and incisional hernia and males who had
inguinal hernia, chronic appendicitis and soft tissue tumors.
Those patients who needed further investigations and other specialities were referred to Serean
Hospital and Muhimbili National Hospital. All patient operated were admitted for maximum of five
days and all discharged in good condition asked to come for follow up clinic after two week.
CHALLENGES
1. There was no anaesthetic machine and most of the patients were operated using spinal
anaesthesia and ketamine in combination with pethidine .
2. No adequate theatre stuffing.
3. Lack of working equipments e.g surgical instruments.
