Learning Center Academics
High School Diploma
Our Learning Center offers independent-study-like courses for
students needing credits toward an Adult High School Diploma,
or for Concurrent High School students needing credits toward
their home-school High School Diploma. The courses offered are
at Standard level and meet the California State Standards. Upon
successful completion, the student will receive five credits per class,
unless otherwise noted. Each student meets with a credentialed teacher
periodically in the Learning Center, by appointment. Some courses are
available using the online APEX system. A prerequisite for pursuing the
Adult High School Diploma via the Learning Center is that the student is
within a small number of credits of earning the diploma.
An alternative to an Adult High School Diploma is earning a High School Equivalency (HSE) Certificate by passing
the GED, HiSET or an equivalent test. We offer formal HiSET Prep Classes mornings and evenings. A student
should make an appointment with counselor Mr. Kane at 805-497-2761, Ext. 1010 to discuss the program and
options best tailored to his or her needs.
