Both forms must be dated after September 2, 2014. After your child has his/her twelve year old well visit, (or entering 7th grade in the fall), please forward copies of the completed BMI and Physical Exam form to the health office. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Health Services Personnel H.C. Crittenden Middle School January, 2015 TechTips for H.C.C. TechSmart is a program by the Byram Hills PTSA to provide information, programs and resources to help families navigate parenting issues related to the internet, media and technology. January TechTip – Photo Geotagging. Many adults and children use their mobile devices as a camera which may be set to ‘geotag’ or pinpoint the exact location the photo was taken. Some people want to disclose their exact location, but that does not mean that you or your kids have to. Here are ways you can disable photo geotagging: iOS (iPhone, iPad, iTouch): in Settings, go to Privacy / Location Services. Turn off Camera and any other apps for which you do not want locations specified. If your device asks “Camera would like to use your current location” select “Don’t Allow”. Android: Start camera app, on menu go to Store Location and make sure it is turned OFF. Note about Instagram: Photos posted on Instagram may be geotagged to your home address or other private location. If your Instagram account is PUBLIC, anyone may click on a geotagged photo to see precisely where it was taken. If Photo Map is enabled on your profile, you may select which photos to include in your Map by selecting Edit in the top right of your Photo Map. Deselect images to permanently remove their geotag. Communication is one of the most important aspects of parenting in the digital age. Speak regularly with your children about safe, appropriate and responsible use of technology. For more cyber safety information visit bhptsa.org / Resources / TechSmart and for grades 6-8 resources visit bhptsa.org / HCC / TechSmart. During the week of January 20th, students will review the district’s Acceptable Use Policy for Technology (AUP) and be given a Chromebook Agreement to review and sign. Please review these items with your child and return the signed contract on January 26th. Students will have the option to personalize and protect their Dell Chromebook 11’s with cases that are available for purchase through the school store, or they may bring their own. Please see the attached flyer for additional information. We are excited for this pilot roll-out and look forward to seeing the power of technology in our students’ hands. Parents are invited to attend one of two sessions to be held at HCC on January 26, 2015, to discuss the 1 to 1 Roll-Out of Chromebooks with our sixth grade students. Please join us at either 10:00 am or 6:30 pm on the 26th.
