Dear Parishioners
The Archbishop has asked us to be part of the preparation for
the next Synod on the Family in Rome. Family is very important
to all of us so you can participate in the Synod by responding to
the Archdiocesan survey. This survey is on the Archdiocesan
website brisbanecatholic.org.au. The responses must be sent
to the Archdiocese by February 10th .
Everyone in the Parish of Sunnybank is invited to the Parish Feast day on
13th February. All the Parish groups are encouraged to attend the Mass
which will be celebrated by Bishop Joseph Oudeman.
A date also to put in your diary is the Parish Multicultural Mass to be held on
March 1 at the 10:30 AM Mass at Sunnybank.
Just a reminder that the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour has
commenced again this year at 10:30 AM Saturday mornings.
Have a great week everyone.
Fr Dan

Introducing Fr Ladu James Yanga
I was born in Juba, the Capital City of South Sudan. I have 9 siblings, 2 sisters
and 7 brothers. I am the fourth child and the second born son.
In 1983, when I was 12, a civil war broke out in my homeland, Sudan. In 1988, I
came to know the word “refugee” when I became one. I spent almost 15 years in
the refugee camps which were all about survival. I never thought I would see the
rest of my family again, since we were scattered by the civil war.
There is a proverb, which says “Mountains will never meet, but human beings will
meet”. I was able to be reunited with my family again, thank God for that.
In 2001, I was given Permanent Residency in Australia, a land about which I
have never dreamed in my life but which has now become my home. (Just
remember Happiness or Sorrow Never comes alone) This is Life.
Born on: 24/06/1975
Ordained Priest: on 29/06/2013
Please pray for my mother who was hit by a car on Monday afternoon 12/1/2015.
She is in the hospital.
May God Bless you all,
Fr. Ladu James Yanga
Next Sunday: 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B
Jonah 3:1-5,10; 1 Corinthians 7:29-31; Mark 1:14-20
The Baptism of the Lord: Year B
Introduction:
God calls us constantly but it is not always easy to hear the call. We must listen with our
whole selves so that we can be one in spirit with Christ.
First Reading: 1 Samuel 3:3-10,19
Young Samuel proves himself a faithful follower of God as he listens attentively to the voice of
God and responds enthusiastically.
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:13-15,17-20
Paul is affirming our flesh-and-spirit humanity, redemption and resurrection, union with Christ and life in the
Spirit.
Gospel: John 1:35-42
John the Baptist guides his disciples to Christ who is the “Lamb of God”. But it will take a while for these
disciples to truly recognise Jesus as the Son of God and saviour.
