Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time: 15th February 2015
Dear Parishioners
This Wednesday we begin Lent. We begin a time of prayer, fasting
and thanksgiving. We will distribute ashes on Ash Wednesday to
remind ourselves about our Lenten disciplines.
Mass times for Ash Wednesday 18th March
Our Lady of Lourdes 6:30 am, 9 am, 11:30 am (school Mass) and 7 pm
Our Lady of Fatima 9 am
During Lent there will be an extra morning Mass at Sunnybank on Friday
morning at 6:30 am beginning this Friday.
During Lent on Saturday morning at Sunnybank we will pray “Mary's Way of
the Cross” at 10:30 am (instead of the Novena).
You may wish to add to your prayer life during Lent to attend some of the other
prayerful activities in the Parish. On Tuesday night at 7 pm there is Adoration at
Sunnybank till 8 pm. There is also Benediction and Adoration following
8:30 am Mass at Sunnybank on Friday. You may like to pray the rosary after
9 am Mass Wednesday at Sunnybank. Also remember Reconciliation can be
celebrated at Sunnybank at 11 am and 5 pm Saturdays. Fr Terry will announce
at Mass any extra activities during Lent for Acacia Ridge.
The Little Books for Lent (Black for adults and Purple for children) are
available at the front of our churches for $4. The adult's booklets have a
Scripture reading and reflection for each day of Lent. The children's book has
stories and activities to explain the significance of the readings.
The Caritas envelopes and money boxes are available on the back table of the
Churches. Caritas is focussing on the theme “food for life” to assist people in
many parts of the world. The countries Caritas is focussing during the Lent are
Fiji, Nepal, Peru and Indonesia. Please give to Caritas so that people can simply
live.
*******************************************************************************
Next Sunday we will begin Children's Liturgy of the Word at 9:15 am and
10:30 am Mass. The only exception will be there will be no Children's Liturgy
during school holidays. At the 10:30 am Mass the children will read the Scripture
readings on the 1st Sunday of the month, so on the 1st Sunday of the month
there will be no Children's Liturgy at 10:30 am Mass. For Children's Liturgy the
school aged children will be asked to leave the Church with 2 adults who will take
the children to the Media Room (beside the Church) to explain the Sunday
Scripture readings to the children.
We look forward to receiving Fr Noy home from his annual holidays on
Wednesday. Fr Peter who has been with us for 6 months will move to Northgate
to continue his Ministry with the Syro-Malabar people in the Archdiocese. We
thank Fr Peter for his Ministry in our Parish and wish him well in the future.
Have a great week everyone.
Fr Dan

Stations of the Cross:
Mary's Way of the Cross
6 Saturdays from Saturday 21st Feb. at 10.30am
"Mary's Way of the Cross" unites us to the sorrowful
heart of the Mother of Jesus as she walks the
torturous road to Calvary with Him. Her deep
reflection on the meaning of her beloved Son's
suffering and crucifixion will strengthen our own faith
journey. Her total surrender to God's Will reminds us
to trust and rejoice in His salvation for us.
"Were you there when they crucified my Lord?"

The sessions which are held on Tuesdays from
9.00am until 11.30 am will begin again on 17th Feb.
