About Aligarh
The term information has a diversity of meanings, from
everyday usage to technical interpretations. The
concept of information is associated with knowledge
derived from study, experience, or instruction.
Technology, on the other hand, refers to the
application of knowledge to the practical aspects of
human life, or to changing and manipulating the human
environment. Technology includes the use of materials,
tools, techniques and sources of power to make life
easier or more pleasant and work more productive.
Technology applied to process information is playing a
vital role in most of our daily activities. There is hardly
anyone who has not been affected or influenced by IT.
To address these and other related issues, University
Women’s Polytechnic, AMU Aligarh, is organizing a two
day Workshop on Information Technology – Prospects
& Challenges on 14th – 15th February 2015.
Aligarh is an important commercial as well as
educational center of India. Situated in western
Uttar Pradesh, it is at a distance of 130 km
southeast of Delhi on the Delhi-Howrah rail route
and the Grand Trunk Road. The longitude & latitude
of Aligarh city are 79° 40' E & 27° 30' N respectively.
The Aligarh Muslim University, a premier Central
University with several Faculties and maintained
institutions, was established in 1920 by an act of
Parliament. It draws students from all corners of
the country as well as from foreign countries,
especially Africa, West Asia and Southeast Asia. In
some courses, seats are reserved for students from
SAARC and Commonwealth countries.
