WATCHING FOR THE MESSIAH
Today’s Gospel story of John and his disciples seeing and
following Jesus sounds so simple and casual, it’s easy to miss
the significant acts of faith that are made.
John points to Jesus: “Look,” he says, “there is the Lamb
of God.” John’s faith in Jesus is evident, so evident that John’s
disciples immediately leave his side to follow this Jesus.
The two disciples make their own act of faith. They follow
Jesus, spend time with him, and are quick to spread the good
news of their discovery: “We have found the Messiah.”
It is easy to forget that the expectations of generations, the
hopes of many ages of faithful people were being fulfilled in
these simple acts of faith. The Lamb of God, the Messiah, foretold by the prophets, had finally come. Nearly everyone among
the Jewish people was watching for the Messiah back then; who
in our own society watches for signs of the presence of the
Messiah today?

BULLETIN NEWS IN VIETNAMESE
* Bài phúc âm kể lại:
Thánh Gioan Baotixita giới thiệu Chúa Giêsu với dân
chúng: Đây Chiên Thiên Chúa, đây đấng xoá tội trần
gian..
cents). Tháng vừa qua, giáo xứ cũng được $71.51.

UNITED IN FAITH
FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR
Behold, the Lamb of God.
The Gospel today tells us that John the Baptist introduced
Jesus to the people. He called Jesus, the Lamb of God who
takes away the sins of the world. He indirectly told the people
that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah and he is not. This introduction costs him 2 disciples, John and Andrew, who left him
to follow Jesus.
Who is St. John the Baptist? a Humble man who admits the
truth who he is. A humble man who did not exalt himself
while people looked up to him and thought that he is the
Christ. A humble man who knew that 2 of his disciples will
leave him and was happy that they left him to follow the right
man. A humble man who considers himself as a best man of
the Bridegroom Jesus. A humble man who told the people
why he testifies that Jesus is the Christ. A humble man who
told the people that Jesus is mightier than he, and he is not
worthy to untie Jesus' sandal strap. A humble man who said
that "he must increase and I must decrease". Finally when his
mission is over, he offered himself as an oblation to the Father
through his martyrdom. He gave to God his full service to the
end.
If Jesus asks us today to be his witness before the people of
our time.
How many of us will be so generous as St. John who surrendered to God completely.
How many of us will work hard enough regardless of tribulation or sufferings for Jesus' sake.
Let us pray to St. John for ourselves to be a good Catholic.
