New Year Recipe
Take twelve fine full-grown months,
pick off all the specks of pettiness and littleness;
have them, as fresh as they came, from the great Store-house of
Time.
Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one parts.
This batch will keep for just one year.
Into each day, put
twelve parts of faith,
eleven of patience, ten of courage,
nine of work, eight of hope, seven of fidelity,
six of liberality, five of kindness,
four of rest, three of prayer,
two of meditation,
and one well-selected resolution.

If you have no conscientious scruples,
put in about a teaspoonful of good spirits,
a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play,
and a heaping cupful of good humor.
Pour into the whole, love “ad libitum” and mix with a vim.
Cook throughout in a fervent heat;
garnish with sweet smiles and a few sprigs of joy;
then serve with quietness, unselfishness, cheerfulness – and

Almost half of January has passed. May this recipe move you forward with grace
and energy.

There is much grace and energy throughout our classrooms and hallway. Kinders
have placed their ‘green’ peace hands at the end of the hallway and 8 th graders
have sat for their high school placement tests. Mission projects are coming into
grade 4 while 3rd graders are steeped in the mathematical number properties.
Seventh graders are working on character analysis while 5 th graders participate
in a “Witch Hunt” as they study what really happened in Salem in 1692. The
second graders are watching the seeds they planted in our garden grow while our
1st graders are focused on the weather throughout their subjects. It’s the daily
experience of your children that becomes my grace and energy. Thank you for
sharing them with us!
There’s more information about Catholic Schools Week on the last page. Our
PTSG committee will be meeting tonight so more details will be coming next week.
May this month of Peace fill each of you with God’s Peace.

Tuition Assistance applications
for the
2015-2016 School Year
are now available!
Paper applications (available in English & Spanish) can be picked up from the school or
sent home with your child. Below are the options for assistance. Please be aware of
the eligibility and deadlines for each option. The earlier applications are received,
the better chance of receiving assistance (awards given on a first-come, firstawarded basis). Your 2014 tax preparation needs to be completed in order to apply.
BASIC: Bay Area Scholarship for Inner-City Children
eligibility: student entering private school for the first time
(note: if have a current student at OLG School, but will have an incoming
sibling new to private school, then family is eligible for BASIC)

WHAT IS SCRIP?
Scrip is a program from which families can purchase gift cards at face value and OLG School
then receives a percentage of each purchase from the program. There are hundreds of
businesses that offer gift cards through this program, from grocery stores to gas stations,
restaurants, home improvement stores, and even Disneyland. It’s a WIN-WIN proposition!
WHERE CAN I BUY SCRIP?
Scrip can be purchased online at www.shopwithscrip.com. Click Register, then click on Join
a Scrip Program to get started. The OLG Enrollment Code is 935D3D9936989.
The other way to order is to pick up an order form at the school office or print one out from
the school website at this link: http://olgweb.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/SCRIP-OrderForm.pdf and then submit the order with payment to the school.
HOW DO I PAY FOR SCRIP?
One way to pay for Scrip is to use PrestoPay. This option will be available through your
online ShopWithScrip account. Another option is to send cash or check (payable to OLG
School) for the total amount of your purchase. Our Scrip coordinator will process your order
after payment is received.

OLG CYO Track Sign-Ups

OLG CYO Track registration is currently being accepted. Completed CYO track
applications plus the fee of $60 (which you may reduce by a $10 T-shirt credit if your
athlete will re-use last year’s shirt) can be turned in to the school office (Attn: Lili
Pohl, gr. 3) Please download an application package from the OLG Saints CYO

A mandatory informational parent meeting and final sign-ups will be held on

OLG School is partnering with TADS Education Consulting to bring the application,
enrollment/registration, and financial aid application process into the 21st century.
For the 2015-2016 school year, families with incoming siblings and new families will apply
to OLG School via an on-line application starting as early as Catholic Schools Week.
Current families will register for and pay registration fees through the on-line
enrollment/registration portal, and pay tuition using the tuition portal. And families with a
financial need will apply for Financial Aid on-line (paper applications will no longer be
accepted, firm deadline to apply is 3/15/15).
More information to be provided as each online module becomes available for use. !
