The majority of teachers use fitness testing for students to see their current fitness levels and some even use these tests so students can track their fitness progressions (Keating & Silverman, 2004). The purpose of fitness testing is to encourage student participation, keep records of students' physical abilities, and assess teacher instruction (Keating, 2003). Moreover, physical educators implement some form of fitness testing, such as FITNESSGRAM, or some other fitness test that educators feel is appropriate for their classroom (Keating & Silverman, 2004).
