times yearly in preparation for Christmas and Easter.
MARRIAGE A formal program of marriage preparation over a period of
several months is required, however, registered parishioners may
begin the scheduling process 14 months in advance.
ANOINTING of the SICK A communal celebration is held regularly. In
other situations (anticipated surgery, emergency) please call the
parish office.

You may have read in the recent issue of In Your Midst
about a new capital campaign to provide exterior
lighting which will make our beloved Cathedral as
beautiful and safe by night as by day. This $1 million
campaign will also greatly improve accessibility to the
Cathedral and provide improved signage around the
Cathedral campus for visitors and regulars alike. If you
would like to learn more about Father Ryan’s vision
for this campaign, meet the artist and architect, ask
questions, and consider making a donation, you are
invited to an information session, Thursday, January
22, at 6:30pm in the Holy Names Room, Pastoral
Outreach Center. An RSVP is required. Literature
about the campaign is also available in the Cathedral
Bookstore and in the kiosk in the Cathedral’s west

PARISH REMEMBRANCE Throughout the year, because we
are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass
and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the
Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This
week we remember in prayer the parishes of Holy
Redeemer in Vancouver and Sacred Heart in LaConner and
Winlock.

Cathedral volunteer crews feed and serve people
experiencing homelessness at Operation Nightwatch. A
donor recently had to step down, so the ministry needs
someone to donate 90 slices of meat on either the first

NICARAGUA MISSION TRIP – August 6-14, 2015.
Join us for a unique international experience
devoted to kinship and mutuality with orphaned
and abandoned children. We are joining forces with
NPH USA, a national agency devoted to supporting
orphanages in Latin America and the Caribbean.
NPH Nicaragua is home to 260 children who are
eager to connect with St. James youth. We desire to
learn from the poor, serve alongside them, and
return home transformed. Registration is happening

A guide to Sunday parking at the Cathedral
We know that parking in this area is at a premium and we do our best to make it available to you.
In consideration of our neighbors, please note these important Do’s and Don’ts!
PLEASE DO park:
 In the O’Dea High School lot.
 In the Cabrini Tower Garage on Marion Street across from O’Dea High School for the Saturday 5:30
pm Mass and all Sunday Masses. The Cathedral pays for parking (and for official traffic officers from the
Seattle Police Department) during these times, and you are encouraged to take advantage of it.
Did you know that there is also parking underground at Cabrini Garage? Dozens of spots sit
empty every weekend. Try it if you arrive late.
 In the P-1 parking lot under the Chancery building at 9th and Marion.
 In the Cherry and Terry Parking lot, only in spaces 1-22.
Please DO NOT park:
 In any parking spot blocked with an orange cone.

Sandwich Ministry
St. Martin de Porres is a shelter of the
Archdiocesan Housing Authority. Each day,
St. Martin’s Shelter provides a bed, a meal,
and many other services for 212 men over the
age of 50. But they have a problem... their
kitchen is not large enough to prepare food
for such a big group.
In response to this problem, churches and
groups in Seattle have provided sandwiches
for the men on specific days each month. For years, St. James volunteers have
supplied sandwiches on the second, fourth, and fifth Mondays of the month. We
currently have a need for fourth Monday volunteers.
Are you interested in getting involved? It’s easy to do and fun!
 Make sandwiches in the comfort of your own home. Cookies and hard-boiled
eggs are welcome, too!
 Drop-off sandwiches at Coffee Hour on the preceding Sunday or at the Parish
Office on Monday, 9am-3pm.
 You can choose to participate once a month, as many of our volunteers do, or
even twice a month if you are able.
 This is a great way for busy individuals and families to get involved in
outreach, and it’s a simple way to make a big difference!
