WELCOME, LIBRARY TRUSTEE RACHEL SCELFO
Rachel Scelfo is a land use, municipal and zoning attorney at the law firm
of Farrell Fritz, P.C. in Hauppauge. She is a life-long resident of West
Babylon and Babylon, where she currently resides with her husband and
two children. Rachel is honored to take the place of long-time Library
Trustee Joan Rizzo, who recently retired from the Board.
FRIENDS WINTER RAFFLE
Take a chance to win a cozy winter basket featuring a Keurig coffee
maker, an assortment of K-cups, cookies and more! Tickets will be on sale
beginning Monday, December 15 and will be available through February

FOSTER CARE INFORMATION

A Department of Child Protective Services representative will explain
the benefits of Foster Care for both the foster parent and child. If you are
at least 21 years of age, are married, single, or living with your partner,
have sufficient income to meet your family needs, are in good health
and can make room in your home and heart for a child, then join us for
this program. This orientation will provide information regarding the
Foster Parent certification process, which is comprised of the Foster Care
application, training classes and a home study. Registration is underway.

fun, excitement and team-building power of Drum
Circles! Professional drummer and motivational

MASTERING THE DOG WALK

TAX ASSISTANCE

Volunteers from AARP will be in the Library to assist people, aged 50
and over, in preparing their income tax returns. Residents may call the

Play your way around a life-sized board through all the fantastic candy
worlds until you reach King Candy. Collect goodies (edible and nonedible) along the way as your family works
together to play the game! Face painting, crafts,

Learn how to make cake pops with The Baking Coach and then decorate
them with chocolate, sprinkles and fondant cutouts. Grade K or younger

Alice in Wonderland invites all eligible young ladies to her
Winterland Tea Party! There will be (iced) tea, scrumptious
snacks, games and a photo booth – so come dressed to
impress! After the festivities end, stay for a showing of the

NEXUS TABLETS AVAILABLE
In January, the artwork of Claudia Gerarde will be featured.
The Library now offers tablets with Internet access through Google
Chrome. Access your favorite social networking sites, email and the
Library’s online resources. Tablets are available to be checked out to Adult
West Babylon Public Library Card holders for in Library use only.
These tablets are a great alternative when the Adult Room computers are
all in use. Simply visit the Adult Reference Desk with your Library card to
check out a tablet. Call the Library at 669-5445 to find out more.

TEEN ART SHOW
Visit the Library this month to view the works of the West Babylon
Junior High School’s talented artists in our new Teen Art Show. We will
be featuring new artwork every month so be sure to check it out. Want to
have your own art show? The Library is looking for creative teens with art
to display. Contact Mrs. Iaquinto at the High School, Mrs. Tomeo at the
Junior High or Ms. Agnello at the Library for more information.
SAT/ACT PRACTICE TEST

Kaplan Test Prep will be here to administer practice tests for the SAT
and ACT so you can experience both tests to determine which one is
right for you. Kaplan will email your test scores to you and then call you
to do a one-on-one consultation answering any questions you may have
and giving you tips on how to score better in the future. Open to Young
Adults in grades 10-12. Registration is underway.

The Teen Advisory Group of the West Babylon Public Library is a great
volunteer opportunity for young adults – take charge and be in charge! We
conduct outreach programs, maintain the Young Adult book display and
much more! Snacks included! Meetings are held monthly. Please visit the
Young Adult section of the Library and fill out an application today! The
Teen Advisory Group is open to West Babylon School District residents.
If you can imagine it, you can build it. Check out our new Lego club for
teens. Registration begins Friday, January 16.
YA CRAFT CART
Visit the YA Area on Tuesday nights from 5-9 to make
fun crafts from our YA Craft Cart. Create Washi tape
picture frames to capture your memories, make duct tape
roses and wallets, weave friendship bracelets, practice your
Zentangle patterns, learn how to knit or fold origami. The
YA Craft Cart is full of fun!
