Program Information The Graduate Diploma in Clinical Counselling aims to extend students’ knowledge and skill level in the counselling discipline. This is achieved through exposure to and analysis of extensive counselling theories and professional issues. It also includes a substantive practice component. The course builds on the student’s previous academic study, or personal and professional experiences. Course Structure The two-year Graduate Diploma in Clinical Counselling is a part-time only program. To qualify for the Graduate Diploma a student must complete: 50 cp from the core Units; 20cp from Practicum Preparation and Practicum Units; and 10cp from Elective Units as listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings for Master of Clinical Counselling Professional Experience Students in the Graduate Diploma are required to complete a practicum preparation unit and a practicum placement. The practicum involves substantial experience in the practice of counselling, including a minimum of 40 hours of face-to-face counselling and 10 hours of supervision.
