your right, past our Rose Garden, and around to the veranda and Gillespie
Hall.

St. Mary’s women’s group invites all women to hear Linda
Robinson share her reflections on the Robinsons’ recent sabbatical, Tuesday, 20 January, at 10:30 AM (after Mass) in Gillespie
Hall. Coffee and tea will be provided, and you are welcome to

This week at LOGOS we’ll look at Mary and Martha of Bethany
and the “Heroic Caregiving” they demonstrated. We’ll see if we can
discover a modern-day hero who demonstrates the same, and talk
about what kind of superheroes we can be for God. LOGOS, Redeemer’s mid-week event for children grades K-5th, 4-6:30, includes Bible study, playtime, study hall, worship through the arts
(choir, art, or Suzuki prep), and dinner. Tuition is $50 and limited

At the Rector’s Class at 10:15, Father Robinson will continue
our Essential Bible Stories with “John the Baptist.”
Bridge to the Word, a small group adult Sunday School class,
meets today in Room 207 above Gillespie Hall, 10:10–10:40 AM.
Please join us!
Volunteers from the Episcopal Thrift House will be on hand on
the veranda today, between the 9 and 11 o'clock masses, to promote our cause and to encourage those not yet involved to join us.
Please drop by, introduce yourself, and see how you can take your
place. Commitments can be one or two three-hour shifts a month.
Check out the book shop table in Gillespie Hall where you'll
find books recommended by your clergy for your winter reading.
Fathers Robinson, Marsden, Wilson, and Bumsted have chosen
three books each, and they will be available in stock or by special
order. Don't miss this opportunity to read something from your
clergies' bookshelves!
Please join us for Solemn Evensong today at 5:15 PM. The music will celebrate compositions of Leo Sowerby, former organist/choirmaster of St. James Episcopal Cathedral in Chicago. The
service will be Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in D. The anthem will
be Toccata on AGO for organ, brass, and tympani.
“Team Redeemer" and the Ringling Bridge Walk/Run: We

Annual Parish Meeting . . .
The Annual Parish Meeting will be on Sunday morning, 25 January. We
will begin the second mass of the day at 8:45 instead of 9:00 AM and we will
begin the third mass of the day at 11:15, rather than at 11:00. Both the 9 and
the 11 o’clock masses will be shortened in order to accommodate the meeting which will begin at 9:45 AM and end at 11:00 AM. Make plans now to
be present for this important meeting. We will be electing new members of
the Vestry, each of whom will serve a three year term, from the 9 AM, 11
AM, and 1 PM congregations.

at Redeemer next Sunday, 25 January, at 7:30 PM.
Future events . . .
Calling all Men! Join Men of Redeemer for a new men's study
series from Family Life, Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood, which defines true manhood and challenges men at each
step of life's journey, calling on men to reject passivity and embrace courage. Starting on 29 January, the study will be held on
Thursdays, 7:00 – 8:15 AM in Gillespie Hall. MOR will be signing
men up on the veranda after the 9 AM mass. For information

Many thanks to all of you who made the last Blood Drive successful by exceeding the 10-unit requirement to keep the Blood
Drive at Redeemer. Please note that the next Blood Drive will be
Sunday, 1 February 2015, from 8:15 AM to 12:45 PM. Donors
may earn points to redeem for valuable merchandise and gift
cards from the Suncoast Blood Bank online Donor Rewards Store.
Inquirers’ classes begin on Tuesday, 3 February 2015. This
clergy-led class is an eight-week presentation about the uniqueness of the Episcopal Church. Liturgy, history, rule of life, and
other important aspects of living life as a Christian in the Anglican tradition are subjects dealt with in this class. If you intend to
receive the Sacrament of Confirmation as an adult, or to be received into this Communion, this course of instruction is required. Classes will meet on Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 PM, in
Rooms 202-204. If you are interested in attending, please call the

Annual Outdoor Movie: Redeemer's Outdoor Movie on the Lawn
is back on Friday, 13 February, 5:30 PM, Parish Lawn. Families
with Children will again host this event, complete with the oneand-only "Popcorn Man." For dinner this year, EYC is joining in,
hosting a Chili Competition between Father Robinson and Father
Bumsted! Sample the chili, and vote for your favorite. All proceeds
go to Redeemer's Youth Ministry fund. So who will win? Father
Fred? Father David? Time will tell! Please bring a dessert to share,
and the beverage of your choice. Movie: “Cloudy with a Chance of
Meatballs.”
St. Mary's will attend the Church of the Nativity Annual English
Flower Festival and Tea on Saturday, 21 February. Meet at Nativity Parish Hall, 5900 Lockwood Ridge Rd. (just SE of University
Parkway) at 11:30 AM for Tea ($14) and then move into the
church to see the flowers and stay on for the music at 1 PM. All

"Lent with Lazarus: Unbound and Let Go!" Mark your calendars
for Redeemer's annual Lenten retreat on 21 February, which will
be led again this year by Father Charleston at DaySpring Conference Center in Parrish. The retreat begins with mass at 9:00 AM,
features a series of spoken meditations by Father Charleston,
includes lunch and time for spiritual direction, as well as confession, and ends promptly at 2:30 PM. The outdoor Stations of the
Cross will be available after closing prayers for those who wish to
walk them. The cost of the retreat is $18.00, which includes a
generous lunch. Register by visiting redeemersarasota.org. Space
will be limited to the first 50 who register.
Your attention please . . .
Valet parking will soon be available on Sunday mornings!
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we will begin
offering complimentary valet parking on Sunday mornings from
8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The valet attendants will be located at the
Palm Avenue entrance to the parish. This new service is ideal for
those who are infirm and for families with children, as well as
others who enjoy the convenience of valet parking. Stay tuned for
more details.

JR EYC MEETS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT! Come see us this Wednesday night at 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM to pray, pizza, and play some games.
FRIDAY MORNINGS ARE NOT FOR SLEEPING. They are for hanging
out with the best people ever. At 6:15 AM on Fridays, we’re reading
Scripture together and having the best breakfasts in town. We’ll get you
out the door in time for school! Sounds crazy but it’s awesome. Talk to
Fr. David ASAP if you haven’t made it out to see us yet!
ALL EYC are invited on Wednesday, 21 Jan, for a special conversation
with Bishop Smith! He’ll join us for the evening to tell us about a time he
Put God First, and then we’ll see if we can’t get him to play whatever

Experience the Joy of the Magi: Have your home or office
blessed in the season after the Epiphany! "On coming to the house,
they saw the Child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down
and worshiped him" (Matthew 2:11). It is customary for homes
(and offices) to be blessed throughout the season after Epiphany.
A short and dignified liturgy performed by a member of the Redeemer clergy, these blessings sacramentally set apart your home
or office for Christian use throughout the new year. Please contact
Father Charleston ([email protected]) to have your
home or office blessed by a priest on staff. Visits may be scheduled at any time and create the ideal opportunity to share God's
blessing with friends, colleagues, and family.
Contributions to our Caritas Food Pantry are always welcome
and very much needed by people in our community. Thank you to
all who so faithfully contribute to that ministry. There is a large
box in the narthex for pantry items.

Patrick Cleveland of Gainesville, Florida . If any of you know just cause why
they may not be joined together in Holy Matrimony, you are bidden to declare
it. This is the second time of asking.
The BMO Harris Bank parking garage
garage is available for church parking on Sundays
until 1:00 PM. The garage is locked at that time, and any cars left inside will be
locked in.
The nursery for infants and toddlers is available during the 9 and 11 AM masses
every Sunday.
Those persons who find
find it difficult to come to the altar to receive Holy Communion
are asked to inform one of the ushers, who will then see that Communion is
brought to your pew.
If you have fami
family members in the active military please call the parish office to
have them put on our prayer list.
Listening devices for the hearinghearing-impaired may be obtained from an usher. The
Hard of Hearing Assistance System operates on a frequency of 72.9 for those whose
hearing aids have the capability to pick it up. For those who have a T-Coil receiver
in their hearing aid, Redeemer has an Induction Loop system installed. Personal
earbuds may be purchased in the parish office.

GlutenGluten-free communion wafers are available: Sundays, 7:30 AM Mass – high altar;
9:00 and 11:00 AM Masses – chapel altar. Indicate your need to the priest administering the host.
