2015
HCPS students will have two options to complete the Economics and Personal Finance
(6120) course in summer 2015.
Option #1 – Henrico County Public Schools
Who: Independent/advanced learners of HCPS in rising grades 9-12 who want to complete the
EPF required course in the summer
What: Online Economics and Personal Finance (6120) course, one high school credit
Where:
Online and Glen Allen HS for face-to-face meetings as shown below
o One orientation for parents and students will be held at this location in early June
o Course begins the next day
When: Specific dates will be announced by HCPS on March 1, 2015
What else:
o Advanced pace; online format
o W!SE certification test in July, administered by teacher
o Face-to face meetings at Glen Allen HS for orientation, mid-term exam, W!SE exam,
final exam/laptop and charger return
Option #2 – Longwood University
Who: Independent/advanced learners in rising grades 9-12
What: 4-week Economics and Personal Finance college-level course for independent/advanced
learners who are interested in earning high school credit and college credit for the course.
Students may choose the Hybrid Learning ($400) or Honors Academy ($1500) format for this
summer course.
When: June 15 – July 11, 2015
Where: Longwood University
What else:
o Information meeting at Glen Allen HS, February 5 at 5:30pm
o Students who finish the course with a “C” or better and become a degree-seeking student
at LU will receive an additional 3-credit scholarship for a total of 6-credits for the course
o Honors Academy participants will spend the final week of the summer course on the LU
campus, 7/5-11
