We are already welcoming several new students from all around the world this term along with their families. To all new arrival a very warm welcome and I hope that you are able to feel at home and settled in soon. Sadly, we are also saying quick goodbyes to several more students as they move on or return to their home country. There are various activities going on each day including the normal Extra Curricular activities that as you know, will be ending shortly as the first activity period is coming to a close at the end of this month. The Board’s Working Group on Extra Curricular activities is looking forward to receiving your responses to the survey they are sending about the activities in order to help in the preparation of some ideas for the future of the programme. Term 2 School Fees | This is a respectful notice so that you are fully aware that we will be asking you to confirm student re-enrollment much earlier this year than has been the case in the past. As I am sure you are aware, space is now at an absolute premium on the school’s two campuses and if student numbers continue to rise, and we are not able to find appropriate additional premises in time, there will need to be limits upon class sizes for the 2015-2016 school year. Please reserve your child’s place as early as you possibly can when the Registrar’s Office sends out the Re-enrollment Form shortly. This is a respectful reminder that fees for the term were due on the first day of term. Please be mindful of this and arrange to make payments immediately. If circumstances have made it impossible for Term 1 fees to have been paid in full, please send a letter to the Board’s Finance Committee, via my office, explaining any special circumstances and asking for a policy exemption to be made until such time as fees are paid. By policy, admission may be denied if the preceding term fees remain outstanding at the start of a new term. During last week I noticed many lunch boxes without names on them, left on the tables at the end of lunch. Please ensure your child’s name is on their lunch container so that if it is forgotten, it can be returned to it’s owner. Reports will be issued on January 30, at the end of the school day and Student-Led Conferences will be held during the following week. Individual appointment notes will be sent home this week for parents to request a time for the conference with their child. If you need any information about our curriculum you can find it on our website www.ishavana. org . You can also access this information from both the touch-screen panels and the intranet at school. Alternatively, you can request a printed copy from the office. Grades 10 and 12 mock exams begin Monday, February 9. They should have started their revision already and should have a well established schedule to which they adhere rigidly. Parents can greatly assist the revision process, by supplying copious amounts of ‘brain food and drink’ at reguIar intervals and by ensuring that their child/ren have sufficient sleep. Report cards for Grades 6 to 12 will be given to the students at the end of January. Please look at the marks, comments, and indicators to find out how your child is doing.
