See our classrooms and meet our teachers, students, administration, and staff. We invite you to visit our school at any time for a tour. Holy Family School is celebrang 55 years of Catholic academic excellence. We presently educate students whose families have been a part of our school family for ALL 55 of those years, and students who have begun their studies with us as recently as this year. The 388 students that aend Holy Family School this year come from 29 Catholic Parishes and 28 Long Island School Districts. Their cultural, economic, and academic diversity gives a beauful personality to our school family, similar to what one would find in a loving family. Each student is known by name, and loved for his or her God-given gis and talents. The faculty, staff, and administraon of Holy Family School take very seriously the sacred trust parents place in us when they leave their children in our care. We strive to be an extension of their home and family life by ensuring that the beliefs, values, and morals that are aligned with our faith and their family are evident in all we do as a school family. Today, and for the rest of this week, our school joins Catholic Schools across our naon in celebraon of Catholic Schools Week. The underlying theme for all Catholic Schools is: “Communies of Faith, Knowledge, and Service”. At Holy Family School, we live that theme, while simultaneously adhering to our personal tagline: “making a difference, one child at a me”. It is an extremely important me for us at Holy Family School to celebrate our existence and our viability. Schools are suffering, or even closing due to low enrollment and financial instability in our own Diocese, in many other Dioceses, and in public school districts. Contrary to what schools, both Catholic and Public, are experiencing naonwide, we at Holy Family School are proud to say we are growing in student populaon and in academic success. We are considered a Naonal School of Excellence; we are Middle States accredited, and we won the tle of Best of Long Island in the categories of Best Catholic Elementary School and Best Principal for 2014. Thank you for your connued support of our Parish School! Holy Family Parish 475 THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JANUARY 25, 2015 5 This Week in Religious Ed…. REFLECTING ON THE WORD (from Sadlier Publications) Gospel Mark 1:14-20 Today's gospel reading recounts how Jesus calls his first disciples Simon and Andrew, James and John. His herald, John the Baptist, has been put in prison. Jesus urgently calls people to repent and believe in the good news. Like the Ninevites in the first reading, the four fishermen immediately respond to God's call. They leave their boats and their nets in order to follow Jesus right on the spot. "I will make you fishers of men," Jesus promises his new disciples. They take his words to heart and make following him their first priority in life. What does Jesus call his first disciples and us to do? Are there things that might prevent us from hearing Jesus' urgent call? What are they? Who or what can help us to put following Jesus first in our lives? What do you think Jesus means by the term "fishers of men"? Who do you know in your family, school, parish, or community that seems to be a fisher of men, women, or children? Explain what this person does and tell how you might try to follow this person's example. For Registration information and travel packages for the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, go to DRVC-Faith.org Family Mass 10:30 every Sunday On the first and third Sunday’s of the month, our children are invited to join the priest around the altar for a special homily directed to them and our Children’s Choir leads our worship in song.
